Shorter springs to lower?
« on: January 20, 2010, 02:24:13 PM »
Im looking to drop the rear end of my bike much like the bikes that gravel crew puts out. Are there any factory honda bits that will work with my 75 cb750? Like 10" long. I only weigh 160lbs so they wont have to be any stronger than the stock ones. I dont plan on racing it with such a set up anyways. And price isnt really a problem, cheaper the better. But you get what you pay for too.

bought my shortie shocks from tasclassicmotorsports.com
$70, look fine, good chrome, inexpensive.  they're 11inches long, about -1.5inches from stock

dropped the front 1.25 by raising the forks in the triples, but had to use risers (ebay) for MC clearance.  have drag bars.

Shorties and a 16 rim can help you get into the weeds or mow your lawn.  See Momma's ride in sig.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I had though the original springs on a 75 750 were 14" long, so 3ish" from stock? Or maybe I'm wrong. I have a 18" Henry Abe wheel I will be keeping on the bike. I cut the rear of the frame already and will be putting in a loop after the drop to clear the tire. 11" would work pretty well. Would this create any dangerous handling sitiations? As far as I know the frame is true and all the suspension/brake bits work just fine.

Cant seem to find any spring on the site. And all other springs that I can find have two eye' ends on them instead of a eye/clevis. Thats why I was hopin to stay in the honda parts bin. I have a set of lowering blocks but I only hear bad things and they certainly arent enough.
