If It's Not ONE thing, It's Another
« on: January 20, 2010, 04:39:26 AM »

Here, I've been wishing for Spring all this time and last night, something set off my Asthma and, as you might know, I didn't have the emergency inhaler, to break it up and give me relief. Usually, my Asthma is pretty much under control. Tried my usual tactics with hot coffee to break it up (usually works, but NOT this time) and, of all things, I turned on the air conditioner to cool things down. Heat doesn't do it any good either, if you are having a problem. Drug store doesn't open til about 9AM. My Asthma has been under such good control for most of the time, that my prescription probably isn't any good! ::) That'll probably mean a trip to the Doctor, WHEN I can get an appointment. I'm usually the ONE member of the family, that stays in pretty good shape and run everyone else to the Doctor and pick up medicine for them. Finally got enough relief last night, that I got SOME sleep. Now days, after what happened to Brenda, it has been on my mind that when I'm gone there won't be anyone to take care of my Dad (if he's still living). Anyway, I woke up having some more difficulty with the Asthma (about 5:15AM) and now, it has settled down somewhat. I HATE this stuff! If you've ever had Asthma (or anything similar), you know what I mean. You either breathe about 90mph and yet can't take in enough air OR your breathing is really restricted because the brochial tubes are swollen and it is an effort just to breathe. All of this makes you SO tired because you are not getting enough oxygen. Gotta go, my day is starting and I've got a list of "everyday things" to take care of.

Bill,
I believe that the best thing is to take one day at a time, live to the max and enjoy your surroundings.
Sometimes we think about what might be and generally that never happens.
One of my life rules is "What you think is what you feel"
With spring coming, the thought makes you feel good.
While it is not always easy, good thinking makes for good feeling.
Because we are human, it can be so simple the slide into that negative thinking thing which can become the norm and we feel like sh1t, but it doesn't have to be that way.
Everyone is the boss of their own mind but sometimes our minds become the boss of us.
That is only if we let it be that way.
Take good care of yourself mate.
Mick
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

Thank you for THAT, Mick. I keep trying to get on with things, even though I have moments that really set me back. I felt like I was doing pretty well, for the most part. Then, out of the blue (yesterday evening), my Asthma gives me a jolt! It really is an experience, not being able to get enough air into your lungs. At times, it can be downright scary. Ever since I lost Brenda, in the back of my mind, I wonder who I can get to be there for my Dad, IF something happened to me? You see, I was getting ready to have Brenda added to the Power of Attorney and such, for my Dad. Basically, I have NO Family, except my Dad and my Daughter. So, with THAT on my mind last night, I am really concerned about making sure that my Dad is taken care of, if need be. Losing Brenda, has made me realize that you almost need a backup plan FOR the BACKUP PLAN! :-\  My Daughter Karla, is taken care of. My Sister-In-Law (and family)
will be taking care of Karla, IF something happens to me. That has been set up for quite awhile, by Brenda and Joan (Brenda's Sister). I have thought about talking to Joan about my Dad, but it WOULD be better if it were someone in the our family, but there is no one except David and THAT sure wouldn't work! ::)

Anyway, even though I've got alot on my mind and to take care of, I AM still trying to get on with MY life, such as it is.

Also, I HAVE gotten some relief for the Asthma and it is much easier to function, when you can breathe.

Take care Mick, and thanks again, Bill ;)

Hey Bill, you hang in there. Mick talks a lot of good stuff - we have a saying over here, not a common one maybe that is: "Who's driving your bus?". It refers to the choices we make in life and the fact that most of what happens to us is of our own making. For example, think of someone who really winds you up every time you meet them. Now next time, choose not to let yourself get wound up - the only person winding yourself up is you, that person doesn't have power over your subconscious to MAKE you wound up, it's you choosing that reaction.

You're usually great at being positive Bill, don't let that slip. Don't think about what might be, just deal with what's happening. And if you want something different then just go and choose to make it happen. As a certain Mr Henry Ford used to say "whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're probably right".

On the subject of your Dad, who knows what would happen if you popped off before him but I tell you what, I bet there's options of very good care and a fine old life that even you haven't considered as an outcome. Keep smilin' Bill, it's what we all value you so much for  ;)

Simon, I DO appreciate the input from You AND Mick, along with the others who have supported me along the way. I ALWAYS try to be there for others, thinking about myself, after the fact. It's probably the fact that I've lost a MAJOR part of my life, with Brenda being gone and I am sort of drifting. I know that I have to stay straight and the round with the Asthma, bothered me (mentally) more than usual. I know I keep saying that AND saying it in all kinds of different ways. Ya gotta remember that I've had HER there as my support and close companion for almost 39yrs. As I've gotten older, it's gettin to be more of an effort to get back up and go again. I'm working on it and being the "Hard Headed" Dutchman that I am, I'm Too stubborn to give up. I just have to FOCUS and go with it.

Thank you again, and I hope you are healing nicely yourself. You show US your backside in your avatar and I am wanting to hear about your getting back out there and showing the competition that same thing! 8)

Hope YOU have a Good Day Simon, Bill ;)

The key is Bill that you recognise yourself that it's a mentality thing that allowed the asthma to get to you. I know you feel like you're drifting a bit but the very fact you recognise you're having a bit of a dip and are doing something about it, even if it's just posting here, means you're in better control than you already realise that you are, now. You're a strong guy Bill, time to let that "hard headed Dutchman" out to play  ;D

PS - pic of my scar in the other thread LOL!

Thank you for THAT, Simon. ;) Fact is, I DO (sort of) get out and Play. I Do that by pulling the cover off of the GTX, fire that sucker up (it's cold natured and have to warm it up), pull out in it and get it out on the road. It's really something about the way folks who recognize the car, respond with waves and/or comments. That's when I tell them about the car and what it means to me. 8) Even those who don't even know what it is, appreciate it and THAT makes me feel good. I REALLY thought that there would never be a a "Snowballs Chance I n Hell", That I'D Ever Have Another Car Like That and YET, IT'S sitting out on MY driveway! :) I won't get morbid about this, I just wanted the car to be a "Tribute to Brenda", in a tasteful way, you know?  As for the Asthma, I did get an inhaler and have to use it 2 or 3 times a  day, starting when I first wake up. I get relief from that and soon, it will run it's course and I won't have THAT nagging me. "Hard Headed" can be a Good thing. Like I Am determined enough to get through this period of my life AND yet, keep my memories of my True Love, so they will not be forgotten. Also, I am putting those memories down on paper, so that, in the event that I CAN'T remember, I can read and reflect back on those times when Brenda and I were together. If only You All could have met her. Yes, I'm trying to move on and yet NOT forget her. ;)
