Very nice, love the excel rims.  I would have used them on my build if they came in black.  No black so I went with the Sun rims.  You dog looks like it has demon robot eyes.....

hopefully those Cycle X gaskets are better than the ones that I got from them.... They sent me ones that were still in the EMGO packaging. The Emgo gaskets that they sent me failed horribly after about 4-500 miles.

The Excel rims are a very nice piece of kit.  Had thought about using them, but really wanted the shouldered look.  Hind sight being 20-20, they would have been less expensive after I had to get the Borranis polished. ::)

Great looking build. I am trying to save some money for my next round of mods to my 1976 750F.

She's a badass little dog, but ALWAYS looks possessed with the flash on my phone!

Ok, so I'm thinking of rockin a stone guard like this: http://www.newbonneville.com/html/headlight_stone_guard.html

Thoughts??  I think it looks #$%*in!!  I've even considered using a white HID light with a yellow lens because I love that look so much!!  Thoughts on both??

I personally like them. I used to use 'em on my rally bug, but a lot of people hate 'em. The biggest complaint I got was "it looks like chickenwire", but who cares Fk 'em. If you like it. Do IT, but I wouldn't pay that amount. The most I EVER paid was $15 a pair, but its hard to track them down .

Woooo!!  Got more parts recently!  PERFECT chrome engine guards, a beautiful set of FULLY adjustable IKON 7614's, brake caliper rebuild kit and a set of "beehive" tappet covers from parts n more.  These are a VERY nice set for $30!! I just hope the fit right and dont leak!!

Then I'm going to send the head to MReick for some fun work!  Hope to send the cylinders out to get bored soon, thanks to Ron (MCRider) for the recommendation!!  Gotta rebuild the hubs, polish them, drill the rear drum, install new bearings and lace the wheels.  LOTS of work to do, little time lately!!

I need to paint the cases, so I'm thinking of something a little darker than the standard silver used by many to help contrast the future off white frame and Honda red tins.

Im wondering if anyone could build me a rear hoop for the frame.  I have some plate steel, but that would be a lot heavier than using a section of DOM tube.  If I build a wood template I'll heat up some tube and bend it to that and weld a plug into the end.  Then weld some thin sheet metal onto the top and build my electrics tray.

Ahhh, SO MUCH WORK to achieve my dream!!

Ya I've seen that one and the one Benjie sells, but that's $100 I don't really have!!  I might just use the plate steel and a little bit of "dressing up" to make it look better.  That was it's free, and it will do all the strengthening I need!!

Yeah just let me know, I might PM Hednut, a friends is helping me get a website setup right now so we will see how that goes for a little bit. Seems to me these hoops are over priced. I can make more than enough money at $20 to make it worth my time. Anyways glad to be able to help. I have plenty of suitable material.

Awesome! Well how about when I ship you my seat pan, you can use the cowl you make to shape the hoop?  Then just leave it longer than it needs to be and I'll make it work!!

so no real updates to speak of other than more and more parts coming in...  i took some parts for trade from a local guy who didn't have any cash, so he gave me a brand new Savage X SS nitro RC car!  this has been taking up some of my free time.  that, a ski trip 2 weeks ago and the start of school last week have really put a slow down on my work.  and for awhile i couldn't make it over to the u-haul shop to get my 30 lb propane tank filled for my garage heater!  hard to work when it's 40 degrees outside...

anyways!  i got my webcams 41 hardweld in from dynoman, along with new lower end HD studs, adjustable cam sprocket, HD top end flanged bolts, and some other things.  got my cylinder back from a local shop who did the boring and fixed the sleeves, so all is well now!  on a low note, i did have to order new rubber spaces that go in between the fins, as the media blaster TOASTED mine during blasting...  those puppies are NOT cheap!  almost $80 to replace all 20 of them, DAMMIT!!

i should get my head back next week, and MReick had this to say yesterday!  " First off the port work is done. You have the best $XXXXX job on the planet and I'm not exaggerating."  i left the price out of that just because i don't want anyone to know what i paid exactly for my work.  Mike is def. helping me out though!

on a side note, Mike had to sell me a "new" head as mine had quite a few interesting problems!  apparently the old valve guides had become so hot at some point they had turned a shade of blue from heat discoloration!  not good!  he said it's the only head he's seen like this, and he can only guess as to the cause.  most likely severe oil starvation, maybe caused from forced induction of sorts...  either way, hopefully he took some pictures of things so everyone can know!  oh well, he has a decent boat anchor now, or maybe a good tire store for his car.   ;D ;D

a quick question.  while i don't have a picture (at school), when i got the cylinder block back, they had to practically destroy the dowel pins on the corners of the block.  he handed me back 4 of them that were pretty mangled.  should i go ahead and replace these?  bike bandit has them for $1.20 a pop, so i can probably get them cheaper elsewhere.  i don't mind spending a little extra cash if it will help the motor go back together easier/safer and reduce risk of oil leakage...

ok guys.  paint scheme is decided, just need help with the details.  the attached picture nailed down the paint scheme i've had in my head for over a year now, so i just need help working out the details...  i'm going with a red and white theme, with some polished and black bits here and there.  i'll also re-paint the stock tank emblems to incorporate some silver/gray, black and red to contrast the tank and accent the rest of the build.

i'm going to go with the red frame wheels and swingarm for sure.  here's where i need opinions, PLEASE!!  what color should i paint:

cases, cylinders, top end.  i'm thinking a slightly darker silver, almost titanium/cast iron color for the cases and head, then the matching (or as close as i can get) cylinders with all the fin ends polished/sanded to contrast.  since i'll have the dry clutch, i might have the end piece coated to match the frame.  i'll also have a clear points cover.  i figure i'll polish the left side covers.  ok, so i decided to do the cylinder fins the same color as the frame, so a nice red with the fin edges polished, still undecided on the case colors

hubs/rear brake.  i think having these powdercoated would look cool and provide a nice "balanced" feel, but i think it might be too much red in the rear with the size of the rear drum.  if i go this route, i'll polish the ribs on the interior of the hubs for some contrast.  of course, i'll put some "speed" holes in the rear brake for looks and a minimal performance gain.  ok, hubs will be matched to the wheels, i'll do some edge polishing on the rear hub to break up the color a bit

rear springs.  i'm thinking of doing them the same white as the tank and seat cowl.  def. going to match the color on the tank, or find a nice powder to coat the springs in and match the painted parts to this.

headlight bucket.  either a match to the tank, or a chrome bucket from DCC.  complete with a visor and probably a stone guard.  (i've never seen this so i'm thinking it might look cool!)

gauge buckets.  i think some chrome upper buckets and body matched painted lowers would look really good, so i'm pretty sure about that.

oil tank.  since i'm having little_horse make me a custom oil tank to go behind the triangle and act as a partial fender, i think i'm going to polish that and maybe have at least the back portion clear coated for ease of dirt removal.  the tank will also include a sight tube, probably in red to match my fuel lines.  ;D  def. going to polish this

hand controls.  i'm going to run one of DCC's all-in-one left hand side control units, so i can have a very clean bar setup.  either matching the frame, tank or black/case covers.  i don't think i'd want polished/chrome.  the super bike bars will stay chrome.

fork lowers.  i've considered polishing them.  i know that would be a lot of work, but i feel that matching red or white would be a little much for the front end.  i'm going to keep the fork brace polished, so i think the polished look will be best for this.  maybe paint the inside of the three "rings" on the top of the tube to match the frame??  decided if i don't polish them, i'll match these to the color of the engine cases.  this will depend on the exhaust decision; polished exhaust = polished forks.  dark colored exhaust = matching forks

exhaust can.  i'm running a Carpy 4-1, and i feel that the stock powdercoat isn't of great quality.  so i think doing a nice titanium ceramic coat or a polished ceramic coat would be trick.  i would possibly match the engine cases to the header if it's done in a dark gray/silver.  a chance for black, but for sure no exhaust wrap.  i've had experience with the stuff and i just don't think it fits with my build.

triple trees.  polished, black or match it to the engine cases.  i'm running a GL front end.  pretty sure i'll match these to the engine cases

front brake discs.  white or red?  i'm kind of stuck on this one.  pretty sure i'll match these to either the body work or the engine cases

front brake calipers.  engine case color, polished.  i'm unsure on this!

ANY and all thoughts are greatly appreciated!!  man i wish i was good with photoshop!!  thanks a bunch guys!!

I would think chrome would do nicely. I like the visor/stone guard, I saw one 750 with that setup and it looked great..

gauge buckets.  i think some chrome upper buckets and body matched painted lowers would look really good, so i'm pretty sure about that.  Good call, I would go with that.. What about the guage faces? Gonna put new faces on the guages..?

oil tank.  since i'm having little_horse make me a custom oil tank to go behind the triangle and act as a partial fender, i think i'm going to polish that and maybe have at least the back portion clear coated for ease of dirt removal.  the tank will also include a sight tube, probably in red to match my fuel lines.  ;D  def. going to polish this

front brake discs.  white or red?  i'm kind of stuck on this one.  pretty sure i'll match these to either the body work or the engine cases

front brake calipers.  engine case color, polished.  i'm unsure on this! Red for sure on the calipers, it will go well with the red wheels. Also, lighter colors will show brake dust sooner.

ANY and all thoughts are greatly appreciated!!  man i wish i was good with photoshop!!  thanks a bunch guys!!

My thoughts in blue above.. So far it sounds great! At the end of the day you need to do what you like in terms of color etc.. Can't wait to see it!

well those suggestions are good, thanks for the insight!  and to answer your question, i do have some overlays for the gauge faces, i just need to put them on.  i'm going to clock them  so the 0's will be at the 6 o'clock position and sand the faces clear so the led light ring can shine through well!  should make for a very nice looking set of clocks!!

now i just need to find some time!  if it's not school, it's the weather, and if not that, then it's the gf!!  man i just need to do like MCRider and devote at least half a day on the weekends to the bike!  maybe Fridays too since i don't have school then...
