What's a mint 1978 750f really worth?
« on: January 26, 2010, 04:42:55 PM »
Hi guys,

I found a 78 750F with 14k on it.  Original owner and maintained professionally.... the guy was a service manager at a Honda dealership when he bought it.  He's retired, but still has a healthy collection of CBs, all immaculate.

So what is it worth? He is asking $2000. I think that's a little high for an average bike, but reasonable (maybe even good) for an exceptional bike.....

Thoughts?  (quickly, I'm either bringing him the money or walking away tomorrow)

No picture, and you described it as "all immaculate", and no problems, issues listed.

Sounds good to me....  Ain't my money though, and I have enough to not need anymore in the collection, so I wouldn't pay it.

great first post...

I paid half that for my 78F with around 29K on it, But I would have spent $2000 for a mint 78F with 14K

If it's make and model you are looking for and you can afford the 2K buy it.

You can not make a 78 look immaculate for under 2K. If you were given a bike free you would be hard pressed to make it immaculate for only 2K.

Of course it depends on your definition of immaculate, it might be different than mine.

"[he] has a healthy collection of CBs, all immaculate."   -Meaning all of his CBs are immaculate.

Sorry no pictures, but imagine going to a showroom in 1978 and looking at a new bike... fast forward 32 years and the bike looks the same.
