We did the same here in Napier when I was a teenager, the local Council Traffic Wardens wouldn't let you park a bike in a car park, it all came to a head when an irate car owner tried to move a mates 750 Kwaka and dropped it on its' side.

Next Friday night (THE night to go to town in the old days) we took up every car park in the main street, as soon as a car drove off we took that park too.
Even the local bad boy hard biker gang (the Outlaws) cottoned onto what we were doing and came into town, took up a whole block just for Triumphs and Harleys.
The shop keepers protested to the Council and a week later we had (and still have) "free" motorcycle parks dotted around town.

How's that for people power?!
