so i guess my bike is pretty close as is to unfaded?
That is highly unlikely.
It wasn't just the red that faded out of it. There was some blue tint in there, too.
The color you see is highly dependent on the type of light that shines upon it. Flourescent and incandescent lights reflect differently than pure sunlight, as they have there own color bias.
The original paint was had a candy/blue/red tint spray over the metallic and a clear coat over that. The metallic flecks in the paint cast a purplish hue in the reflected color. Below are what I recall the color used to be. The first picture is more or less how I remember it when new. The last picture is a bit lighter shade. But, you can see in the complex shape how the color, hue and reflection change how the paint looks on an irregular shaped object.
Even these pics will change hue depending on how your particular monitor render colors. So, it may look different on your monitor than it does on mine.
I'm using 24 inch MAC LCD monitor with the standard iMac color profile, FYI.
