Southeast USA, OK?
« on: January 23, 2010, 07:26:49 AM »
I am just curious, not trying to be funny or anything,
but I have to ask,
How has all the rain the past few months affected the drought?
Are you all back to normal, overwhelmed?
peace,
michel

Down here in SE Alabama we've been having rivers flooding. Even the military installation I live on got almost completely shut down one day due to the floods.

So, seriously, are the resevoirs all back up to snuf?

Reason I ask I sometimes flooding rains don't necessarily fill the long term needs.

I think we were 7-10 inches over normal for 09. But the lakes near Atlanta are what your taliking about? The bottoms are as full as they need to be here in the lowcountry. Places in the woods that dont usually see water stay have been puddled since october or longer. Im near Savannah GA.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

i understand that lake Hartwell is finally back up to normal, or close to it. thats one of the main sources for atlantas drinking water. at one point it was dozens of feet below normal. we got a bunch of rain the last half of 2009 though.

Ground water and all back to normal. Except Mountain Lake. But it's water loss may have been more to
geological limestone problems than actual drought. It seems periodically over the last couple of 100 years
it has gone dry like someone pulled a plug and then after a few years starts to refill. It was about
half full at the end of the summer.

For the first time in 10 years every county in NC is out of drought status.  We have been out for over 3 months.  Lots of rain and res's are full
