I saw the dead again today.
« on: January 06, 2006, 03:45:26 PM »
I saw the dead again today. It called to me from it’s grave as I passed by, resting beside a
vacation cottage, exposed to the weather. It was ever so slowly returning its elements to the
earth. Never to feel the thrill of pavement or wind, its spark plugs missing, heart rusted,
never to beat with joyful fury. I would have wrested it from its grave, but alas none were at
home. Though, to see the person that would let this noble horse come to such a state, alas,
would fill mine own heart with loathing misery. It’s coverings were missing along with its
mighty tank. Hopefully to a better place. Its carburetors were laying in a pile. My urges to
gather these pieces and take them to a better place, so very strong. They were not mine to
take. I weep, I weep.  :'( Oh cb750, I bid thine soul, rest, slumber, maybe one day I shall return and steal thee from thine grave.

Isnt it amazing how many people think an old bike that doesnt start or runs like crap is junk?!  Lazy #$%*s.  I wish I had all the good bikes that people allowed to rot away like that.  Hey, at least we save a few tho.

Hey, most of what I have was in a "grave yard", in pretty bad shape. I'm going to try to fix up some of them and sell or trade the rest. I mean they were just out there rotting away. I couldn't believe it. Well, anyway I managed to rescue. I picked up on some Hondas (2 CB450s, a CB550, a CB500T w/a CL450 engine, a CB500 engine, couple of Yamaha monoshock DT175s, an SR500, 3 XS650s, a DT400, a TS185 and misc tanks, wheels and lots of other parts. I was told that I could take what I wanted and I did until my wife started complaining about my JUNK! I have to admit that I managed to get a few more before I stopped. The problem is, I didn't manage to get 3 CB350Fs (in various stages of disrepair), 2 or3 SL350s in various stages of disrepair also)  some CB750 SOHC parts and a GPZ550. I had second thoughts and went back (about 2 or 3 months later) and someone had gone in there with some guys and a large trailer and picked the place clean. Now alot of this stuff wasn't very choice by any means but, it had potential. Well, anyway, I managed to get a pretty good amount of projects and parts. I evenfound a pair of Jardine mufflers for my 80' CB750K. I don't think they were made for it but, I adapted them easily. Better go for now,  Bill

Found one that was sitting in a falling down garage sitting next to a abandoned mobile trailer when I was scoping out a score this past summer. I peaked into the garage (which I just happened to be driving by) past all the other junk and what did I see? I spy a CB 400 F Bright Yellow/ black stripe.

I asked the neighbors about the place. Nice elderly couple that invited me into thier home and shared vast amounts of information about the neighbors and thier massive amounts of tourist nick nacks. Cool people really. They said the guy that owned the place had not been there for 4 years. He also said he just keeps it cut to keep it from looking like crap. This is in a small town of a grand total of maybe 30 people. Not too many of them next to each other. Lots of empty houses.

Many a dark foggy or rainy night I think to the scenes of Dr. Frankenstien and Igor stealing bodies in the night by lantern  ;) ::) And think to that poor super sport just sitting and waiting....MUHAHAHAHAHAH.... I could only wish.

Damn, I thought this was a post about seeing dead people? Am I the only one here who can do that? Ok, gotta go, Elvis is in my fridge again, "Stay away from the Vegemite and VB, fat boy!" .................. >:(
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I saw a KZ400 also leaning on an old trailer....the day after someone pointed it out to me it was gone. BUT someone called me this week and asked me to take their V45 Magna away. I never liked working on these bikes so I will be parting it out in the next few weeks ;D
