True, stock springs are easier on everything, but less valve control at high rpms.
Hotter cam produce more power up top, people like that, and those with cams have a tendency to rev higher, and may need the spring pressure.
Stock shims can be shimmed but should be checked for travel.
Old Scrambler, I bet if you had an 836 with a hot cam & springs, you couldnt wear it out in 4 or 5 years..
