This is turning out harder than I thought!
« on: January 25, 2010, 05:32:02 PM »
Wow....as some of you may know I have worked out a deal to trade my CBR plus cash for my Bro's 1970 Dart Swinger. Well, he is coming to bring it down tomorrow and also pick the bike up. I just went out to the garage and put the battery back in from storage and fired it up....I am gonna miss that bike!!! It was my first real street bike! I know if I keep it it is only a matter of time before I lose my license or get killed but still that bike was ALOT of fun!! It is like a chapter of my life closing because I know I will never own another sport bike. I couldn't ride it for more than 2 hours at a stretch or my back would be begging for a break! (yeah I know I am only 34 so shut it!!  ;) )

Well, I guess as one chapter ends another begins.

I mean I am stoked about the Dart and know I will have lots of fun playing with it too! And....I will still have the CX so riding won't be out of my life altogether. I just picked up a set of Daytone bars for it and am in the midst of changing them out since the stock ones aren't all that comfy and look ridiculous!

Anyways I figured some group therapy and venting may help....

I put some sub-frame connectors on my big bro's 70 dart, he test drove it and came right back raving about how much quieter and more solid it felt. He had a 340 4 bbl -4 spd and is building a 360 magnum engine in my garage with ported heads.

That's a good deal, now start scrounging up old tires you can fit on the wheels, because you'll be roasting the treads right off a few.  You will be referring to tires as "smoke bombs" for a good year before you stop doing it.

Well it definitely got a little easier rolling the bike out of the garage as we pushed the Dart in!!

It isn't quite as nice I remember but talk about potential!!!! I can't wait to dig into it....tooo bad I now have no money to spend on it!  :'(
