Just saying hello
« on: January 07, 2006, 07:59:51 AM »
Been thinking the last couple of months about getting my old CB550F1 back on the road, bought it in 1980 and was used just about every day for five years until i moved on to big Kawasakis, still got them.Over the years i've picked up loads of bits for the sometime rebuild,so looking through this site its given push needed to get on with it ,cheers Iain  8)

Welcome! Don't forget to take some pics (before/after) and good luck with the restoration/resurrection.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Hey Iain, with a spelling like that and a login of "Haggis" I guess you must be a Scot...(?)

Are you in the UK?

Iain, I used to live in Stirling so I know what you mean about the roads. Many moons ago I also worked in Oban for a summer. My fiance, now my wife, was in Greenock. Brilliant fun going up and down the A82 a couple of times a week. My Favourite road was Oban to Fort William though. Most of it single track and hardly any straights. Brilliant fun.

Welcome from one "orange 550" owner to another--you found the best site to keep you going through your project.

Geoff its not what it seems,it started life as a Tony Foale rolling chassis for Honda sohc 750 motor,i bought frame and bits a few years ago,no engine, last year thought it was time to build something with it,fitted a Kawasaki 900 motor that was sitting in the shed, bought a fairing and seat to give it the " endurance racer "look

Sweet, I always like to see just where others are riding. I too will be posting pics of some of the best riding areas in the Wisconsin area. Many boast about our riding areas. We will see. Problably sooner than later, it is a freakish 43 degrees today  ;D. Too bad I have yet to finish the motor swap in my K5 :'( Will be doing it officially tommorow. ;D

Haggis, it was a hundred years ago, and it was my grandparents that crossed the Pentland Firth and then the Atlantic.

obscure, but very funny, moment from "So I married an Axe Murderer" - Meyers plays his own drunken, t.v. obsessed, Scottish father

translation: "we've got a piper (bag) down!"

i guess you had to be there - sorry about the hijack - i'm only 1/4 Scots.
