Topic: 1978 cb550k transmission clutch question???

I'm putting the clutch back on my 550 and don't know how tight to make the four bolts that my fingers are pointing to...



can someone please help me out...

5.5 to 8.5 ft lbs

should they be bottoming out? or should they be loose? When they are tight there is no movement in the clutch arm on the outside of the case. You know the part that the clutch cable connects to the arm.

They should be tight, sounds like you need to adjust the screw on the outside, along with the cable

okay that was it. I had the outside adjustment screw maxed out in the wrong direction.

I'm wondering the same question myself. I have no clutch pressure or return at the lever. so i took off the clutch cover and decided to take out the clutch springs. But before I did I noticed that the springs were pretty compressed because the bolts were tight. When I go to put them back in i have no clue how tight to make them!! just tightin them until there isn't any more thread left? I'm clueless here......clymer manual is no help.

Tighten them all the way down in a criss cross pattern.
