Can someone shed somelight on this for me
« on: January 26, 2010, 08:13:36 PM »
http://charlotte.craigslist.org/mcy/1572510198.html

found this bike and thinking about it hard. No idea what this is though :

"MRE LOCK UP CLUTCH , AIR SHIFTER,"

and here I got an idea but still not crystal on it :

 DYNA REV LIMITER

KZ's are wicked fast I have heard. Stock bikes are around 11 sec. in the 1/4mi.

A "lock up clutch" uses a mechanism that's driven by centripetal force, so that there's light lever pull at low RPM's but the clutch basically locks up solid when RPM's are higher.

For example:

An air shifter is just a pneumatic cylinder that moves the shift lever for you.  Push-button shifting.

A little googling should provide some elucidation.

I see, this is pure drag gear then . What good would those be  just for everyday riding. I am thinking it's be more of a hinderance than any thing. Index shifting , were's the fun in that ?  Might as well be riding a hondamatic :)!

Technically none of what he has done to bike is irreversible.

If it's street legal and he has all the stock parts.... $800 is stupid cheap.

The DYNA rev limiter might be wired to do two things... 1.) limit revs obviously and 2.) cut ignition for shifts with the air shifter.

The lock up clutch could be sold or even traded straight up for a stock clutch basket and parts.

Then you could remove the DYNA and air shifter and sell it on ebay and get some decent ARE parts for the "stock" engine.

From the looks of it.... it is a mild entry to the life of drag racing. Streetable? Maybe.
