16th feb Kiwis doing it again

Rally against the higher ACC levies for motorcycles, Parliament buildings Wellington. ;D
This time there will be no "organising" group for the Police to target, all bike riders go as individuals and park where ever they find a space, last time 90% of the bikes were coralled in the Cake Tin.
Organised chaos should ensue and Wellington will grind to a halt. :D

Parliament Protest to Save ACC on February 16th 2010

Time: 12:00pm to 2:00pm
Place: Parliament, Wellington
Purpose: To put an end to the privatization of our ACC system

Bikers:
Molesworth Street, and the Cenotaph area, parking reserved

Ride direct to Molesworth st, DO NOT go to the Stadium as that is a pedestrian rally point this time round and no vehicular access has been granted to us.

There will be no group ride arranged by this organization, groups riding in convoy are autonomous and must arrange own ride briefs and timetables, information on the process can be sought from Chanceyy on Kiwibiker, who has a wealth of experience in such activity and organized half the BIKEOI convoy activity

Arrive before 12pm please to ensure you get a parking space, there will be reserved parks and they will run out if the numbers we expect are going to happen. I hope it does, we wish to be mildly disruptive this time. MILDLY I say

Intention is to be ON the grounds before 12.30 to ‘welcome’ the Union and other affected groups to ‘Our Place’ on the day, it would be great if you can all follow the prompt to start a ‘who’s next’ chant as the march approaches at approx 12.30pm

Biker rep’s and speeches will be presented in the 12-1230 time slot, ending with a huge welcome cheer for the unions marchers

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

back in the early 90's the Tampa police started ticketing if more than 1 motorcycle was parked in one metered space. on a holiday saturday hundreds of bikers went into old hyde park and filled ALL the metered spaces i bike per space. i dont think it took more than a month before they stopped ticketing

We did the same here in Napier when I was a teenager, the local Council Traffic Wardens wouldn't let you park a bike in a car park, it all came to a head when an irate car owner tried to move a mates 750 Kwaka and dropped it on its' side. >:(
Next Friday night (THE night to go to town in the old days) we took up every car park in the main street, as soon as a car drove off we took that park too.
Even the local bad boy hard biker gang (the Outlaws) cottoned onto what we were doing and came into town, took up a whole block just for Triumphs and Harleys.
The shop keepers protested to the Council and a week later we had (and still have) "free" motorcycle parks dotted around town. ;D
How's that for people power?! :D

sometimes a little civil disobedience is just what a situation needs.
