Topic: Sandable primer to prep for high-temp paint?

Hi,
Just wondering if this is possible?
I have a set of 4-1 pipes, where the headers are rusted and pitted. Is it possible to clean these up, apply a high temp primer that could be sanded down for an even finish, then apply a black high-temp paint to pretty them up?

None that I'm aware of. I wonder if there is a way to fill the pits with ceramic and then sand it all back before having the whole header ceramicoated.

Dupli-Color DH1614 Gray Primer.
Says it's a High Heat paint with ceramic.

JB weld will do the trick . Make sure to smooth it down before it sets up though , it is quite plyable with your fingers . I got some big shop sized tubes at a yard sale  some time ago and I have used it for all kinds of stuff. It is sandable too. Goodbye pitts!

   I had the same issue with my original 78F 4-1 pipes several years ago. I had the head pipes blasted and I then painted them with high temp flat black. Those head pipes were on the bike for a few years after that, until the muffler crapped out and they've been in storage in my HIGH humidity shop since then with no notice of significant rust. The MAC system I replaced them with rusted significantly in 2 years.

   Then again, you could powdercoat them....

I cant say on the primer, but if its like the rest of the Duplicolor high heat paint with ceramic it should look and hold up very nice. Ive painted many things with Duplicolors high heat line and its good quality stuff.
