It's not a sohc but I thought you guys would like to see the intake port in my race car.                    



Made by CFE,  called a BMF 385,  I can almost stick my hand in it.

damn, that is PURDY!!!

i might start bracket racing a 900+ N/A hp drag car for a friend of mine.  7 sec 1/4 miles, small block, can't remember the other detials off the top of my head, but it's a monster.  super high quality vehicle there, but damn don, that sure is a badass head!!!  is it CNC, or was that by hand??

I'd say CNC cut as on the guide bump, then hand finished..

 give us a measurement..to get an idea of scale..

  Sorry, it's the first time I have had it apart and had to show off.
  Yes that is cnc. Carl Foltz Engineering, probably close to old pro stock technology, 24.5 degree valve angle. You can't see it here but on the next port the head bolt is exposed where it passes through the port wall, however you can see the rocker stud protruding in on the upper left.
  A 7 second ride is a blast, if you get a chance try it. I tell people it's the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Like the fastest car you were ever in dumping the clutch but it pulls all the way to the finish line.
  Nippon, I see I've got some more porting to do on my 750 if I want them as nice as that , were they bead blasted after porting? they almost look cast inside. Very nice, thanks now I have something to refer to while doing mine.

i can't wait to take a 7 sec blast down the strip!  but oh MAN does my gf and mom not want me to!!

my gf went with me to her first 1/4 mile drag races a couple months ago, and the last guy of the evening slammed into the wall at about 195, had to cut the cage from around him and careflight him out, they thought he was dead...  but he started moving his fingers and toes shortly after, so he was ok.  so that def. scarred her about racing at all....

I always felt safer at the track than going to the track. On the way we pass several roadside memorials. We had two close calls since '89. One was a runaway car that ran into their trailer, we just happened to be behind the car when it lurched, the other was a fast dodge dart that, we found out later had crashed  on it's first pass three times.
 That's one bad small block running sevens, our 383 chevy made 684 hp and went a best of 8.03 at 165 mph. I sprayed it once with a 250 shot of nitrous and ran 7.85 at 170. A couple years lated the block split under the cam.

The clean port tells me the headers are really doing a good job, with all the overlap we run, a lot of engines are black inside the intake port due to reversion.
