My Granddad's Last Motorcycle Was One Of These!
« on: January 27, 2010, 07:17:35 PM »

This IS a 1956 Indian (rebadged Royal Enfield) 500cc Woodsman (His was actually a 55', but there wasn't enough changed to make a difference) ANd, the actual Paint was darker than this one.

I wasn't big enough at the time, to ride it and he probably wouldn't have let me anyway. ::) He was kinda finicky that way. He used it around town AND on weekend events (off road or what ever). I DO remember being close by and seeing him in an endurance type event where they had to go up a pretty steep hill and that bike just lugged right on up it with NO problem! Thumpers have pretty good torque, you know? ;) If I could have found one, that I could have afforded, I'd have bought it. When he sold his, the new owner built it up some and raced it on a Scrambles track and did quite well with it too! ;)

IF you can find one. :-\    While I would like to have one, my real want, in the Royal Enfield Line, would be a mid 60's Enfield TT Interceptor! or a 1957 Indian Apache (rebadged 700cc Vertical twin Enfield). I would settle for a Trail Blazer though. ::)

55' or 56' Trail Blazer (Fender Indian head ornament is missing, but I happen to have one) ;)

i have to wonder, how pricey those interceptors are today, maybe a mostly complete fixer upper. it's been long enough since i've owned a british bike that i might want to get another one some day.

Tell me about it.  A couple of years ago I took my 71 BSA Lightning to a charity bike show.  It was held in front of city hall.  It marked it's territory so well the stain on the new concrete lasted over a year.  :o
