Hi,
I have a 1974 CB 750 that need to be repaint

I like the  Sunrise orange  and  was thinking of my different options in order to paint its,

First I am in Canada and Vintagehondapaint.com do not ship to Canada, very sad because they have complete  kit for 150$.

My other option is to buy stuff from ''House of Kolor'', but they are quite expensive, like 300$(too much for my budget).

So anyone have a cheaper solution,

Thanks

What a shame. This is vintagehondapaint flake sunrise orange. Could you ship to friends on the border and pick up? Worth the trip IMO!

There is a tank and side panels on ebay right now with 1974 cb750 original flake sunrise orange on all the parts that looks to be in mint condition. I am not sure what it will fetch. I have an original set of body work in nice condition and it is beutiful. This particular listing has no fade at all on the parts. I know it is probably more pricey than a repaint but it does include all the trim and emblems!

Someone posted this recipe for Sunrise Flake Orange.  Maybe you can reproduce it or find a local paint shop that can.

Wow that's an eye-catching color!

+1 on shipping to a friend and then to you.

Maxime, if you are close to the US border have Vintagehondapaint.com ship to the closest UPS or FedEx location. I do this all the time and rarely have to pay any duty/taxes when returning to Canada.

I brought my lpm covers to a body shop and they brought in a electronic eye to there shop to match the paint exactly. Color was planet blue metallic. It was around 150 last year just for the covers. Prices keep going up every few months paint and materials sorta like OEM Honda parts.

I recently saw a paint job (sunrise flake)that the guy said was done from automotive colours and it looked VERY good!
Let me know how you do as I am looking to paint mine as well.

Thanks for the reply,

I think my best option is to get it match at my local autopart store.

If anyone has a good image of that color, so I can print it and take it to the store.

I Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks

That Flake orange color is like a "candy" color. Its a multi step process where the silver flake goes down first and then the orange is built up over that to the desired color depth than some nice clear coat to finish her off.

Yup - my fave honda color of all time.  I had a 1976 CB550F that I did up in Sunrise Orange (a 1975 CB550F color).  I was lucky and scored a perfect tank for $20, and over time acquired the matching side-covers all in original paint.

It's a three-stage paint process (if my terminology is correct)

Silver base coat
Silver metal flake
Orange candy

This place (Canadian) specializes in replicating these paints, but they're not for bargain hunters.  He was kind enough to sell me a small container of the orange candy, so I could touch up some surface scratches on my tank.  Worked like a charm.
