motorcycle shipping
« on: April 01, 2014, 07:33:55 PM »
Who are the best motorcycle shippers within the usa? I wont have a crate. I kind of know about uship but wondered if there was anyone better/cheaper more reliable etc.

Before i get flamed i tried the search function but too many results came up.

Thanks

Hey Capt - I've shipped a few bikes, you don't need a crate.  I've used Uship.com, they are based here in Austin.

I know a guy, Bullet Transport, very good and reliable.  His name is Gallen.....

Have used UShip too very successfully, but it's a marketplace, not a service and your mileage surely can vary. Make sure you're insured by SOMEONE for the transit.

For bike-specific shiping I have two goods and one avoid. The goods:

EagleOneExpress and Federal Companies. If you are an AMA Member, then Federal offers a discount too. They ship on pallets, that they will bring. I shipped two bikes coast to coast and they were perfect, and on-time, for $700 each. They were VERY dirty when they arrived.

EagleOne has shipped two bikes for me, also coast to coast, uncrated or palleted, they arrived perfectly, sort-of on time, clean. Larry is the guy, and he's worth waiting for if you have time. He won't be on time, in general. Pad his estimates in your mind and be extra happy if it turns out he is.

Now the "avoid":

HaulBikes aka DailyDirect aka whatever they have changed their name to recently to escape their deservedly wretched reputation SUCK. They are liars, were late, and messed up a trip when they had 6 weeks to get my bike cross-country. My experience is not isolated, Google it and see.

Good luck!

Yes, he has a nice rig, your bike will be transported in his enclosed trailer.
