I'm going to London, where should.....
« on: January 30, 2010, 09:59:33 AM »
......I go to check out motorcycle related stuff?

The wife and I are going to the London area for a week and then maybe Paris and Amsterdam for the second week. The wife has all the castles and museums covered but I want to see motorcycles and motorcycle related stuff. Please post some suggestions.

Leave her to dreary old London and tell her you are going to Amsterdam the whole time.

You'll be better off for it.  ;)

Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.

What dates are you going to be over?

Ace Cafe is worth a stop, see events here... http://www.ace-cafe-london.com/Events.aspx
Brooklands not too far away for some history... http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/

SteveD isn't too far away, I'm sure he'll come up with a few more ideas,

+1 - Ace Cafe, Brooklands and if you can travel a bit, Brands Hatch spring to mind. London isn't a massive biking hub imho. If you can swing a day out on the train, get up to the national motorcycle museum in the midlands or Beaulieu motor museum down south. Steve is probably best qualified to comment on the bike scene in London...although if you leave out bikes specifically, I wouldn't ever say London was dreary! Maybe you went to the wrong bits Dukiedook   ;)

First quiet moment you get call in a newsagents pick up the latest MCN (motor cycle news) ,a weekly motorcycle newspaper, find a quiet pub and get an 'English' beer, towards the back of the paper is a weekly events list.
+1 for the Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, you could do it in a day by train if no car, Birmingham International station is close by, not been myself since the fire. Also consider Sammy Miller Museum in Hampshire near to Beaulieu but a distance from London and travel links not good.

Thanks for the suggestions, it looks like the museum is about 15 minutes from the friends we're staying with.
Anybody know how well "Bike Night" at Ace Cafe is attended? It looks like we'll be there during the April 2nd event.
