"Daddy just had to buy a motorcycle, didn't he..."
« on: January 07, 2006, 07:30:04 PM »
I'm beginning to hate that Dodge commercial.  My wife and kids are relentless with it; and it keeps playing over and over and over.  Of course, a week after I started riding mine regularily, it died.  Had the wife pick me up with the trailer...insert heavy sigh.

Just put you foot down and remind the wife and kids that you're the boss and they'll stop picking on you.

At least you won't be able to hear it from your cot next to the bike in the garage.  ;D

We all have a special food or combination of foods that give us retched gag inducing farts, My suggestion to you is consume that food and store up the gas to the best of your abilities and when ever the bust out that tag line bust out a room clearing ass bomb.
This may be something you will need to administer with regularity for some time, but at some point even when they think of saying it to you the memory of you stench will permeate their senses. negative reenforcement with a twist  ;D

There is a reason many of us have couches in our houses. ;)

When my wife and I bought our first couch together last year, the main criteria that I set was that it had to be long enough for me to sleep on it fully stretched out, and it had to have padded arm rests so I didn't need a pillow.  Like the Boy Scouts say, "Be prepared"!!

MrBlasty, I like your way of thinking. ;D ;D

My wife has a Durango, and I have a two wheel drive one ton truck.  I got my truck stuck in the back yard.  Guess who came into the house snickering and said to the kids, "Mommy has to go rescue daddy and the black stallion?"  One hint- her nickname rhymes with "sweetie".
My dog loves me for the person I try to be.  Either that or he's hungry.

Ok, final hint- SHE decides how much I get to spend on another bike and what bike I'm allowed to get.   ;D

Anyone else notice the bit of subterfuge? The little girl peering from the back seat gives the impression this guy's a complete stranger. Maybe dad needs to spend a little less time on the bike and a little more time with his daughter. ;D

So the poor bike breaks down. Brand new Mercedes that are deep into 6 digits of dollars break down too. Apollo 13 broke down. No reason to feel bad about he cars. And knowing about Durangos and their oiling hassles/front end headaches/tranny issues - there's no gloating to be done there. And I am a Mopar fan. However nothing newer than 1971 that is.

I haven't seen the commercial but I'm willing to bet what generic motorcycle he bought.........................

Hint--it rhymes with Marley Gaveusone.

I don't know myself, but it's small enough for a medium dad and tiny mom to heft into the back of a minivan (no ramps in sight), and lock it down tight & upright.  I guess that rules out the Road King.

Actually, It looks to be the "Grand Thumper of them all" a BSA Gold Star (500cc). And that's not the newer version made in the 60's. I'm talking mid 50's or so. I mean, you take a mildly built Gold Star, trim it down some and replace the muffler with a reverse cone megaphone and you've got a motorcycle that runs and sounds Strong. The only thing is when a Gold Star is for sale, you've got to have big bucks to get it.

When we're doing you know what and she's saying "yes yes yes yes yes!"  I toss in, "Can I have a *certian* bike?  She says... YES!

we bought a full sized FUTON

and a queen sized bed at nite.

Last time I talked to her my wife said she has given up on keeping me away from motorcycles - at least that's what I heard her say.  ;)

I think that the bike being shoved into the back of the mini van is either a Matchless or an Ariel, thumper tricked out for desert use.  I could be wrong.  The clue is on the tank if you can catch it.
Nice bike though.
