Maxi-X X-Pipe, heard of it???

Anyone heard of or used this pipe? Sounds too good to be true... Looks awesome, if it performs half as good as they say.... It'd be worth the $500 it'd cost! Just wondered if anyone was familiar and if the claims were true...

Hmm, After reading through his website I have gathered some information: Any other pipe sucks, this is the Holy Grail of pipes, he has no self esteem issues, and these will do everything including making you hair grow back!. I would like to see some data and sound clips though, there's always a possibility that he may be selling a decent product.

Yeah that was my thing... Seemed like an infomercial guy... BUT that is a bad lookin pipe! and if it did half of what he claims??? I'd call that worth it. Definitely would like some sound... Emailed Dr. Campbell to see if he had any video... Searched Youtube, found this... V4, but should give a rough idea of what they could sound like...

Post your findings, I'd like to hear his responses. I emailed to see if they make anything for the 550. I am not too impressed with the sound, kinda farty and hollow on the drive by. i have a V4 interceptor and they can sound REALLY good with most exhausts. Might be  totally different on an inline 4.

IIRC, the pipe fit pretty poorly.  Someone on here cut it apart and welded it back up and it looked and sounded great, but for that money I'd expect it to fit.

It's a toss up on the sound between Carpy's Yosh and the Xpipe for me. Assuming this fellow's got the SOHC version I think Carpy's is a tighter fit.

Sounds nice!

But...

Lotta work to do before either of these pipes will make a difference for me though  :P

Save your money.  Back in 1979 a friend of mine installed one on a 836 honda. With all the tuning it still didn't perform as good as a 4 into 1 header. We came to the conclusion that the x pipe didn't scavenge as well as the 4 into 1 .   ;D
Think about it, how many X pipes do you see being run on the street or on the race track.... road race or drag race ?

Too true... Here is an idea someone could pitch to Carpy, a 4-1-2 like the yosh, just to be a little different. Thanks for the input, ya'll have kept from doing something I was already pretty sure was stupid!

That's why I said to include the quotes.  That tells the search engine to look for the exact phrase "x pipe" and not for the individual words "x" and "pipe".

You can also tell it to exclude words by prefixing them with a minus, so using the example on the search page:

Orwell "Animal Farm" -movie

would search for pages containing the words orwell and the exact phrase "animal farm" but only pages that do NOT include the word movie.

Oh, these tips work with Google too :)
