Layed down the nighthawk

Last night i hit a patch of ice and layed the 650 down. The main thing i am worried about is the stator. Will an impact pretty much ruin one? The cover got ground down pretty good, not completly through, but its thin now. I've never had the 650 charging issue, i hope it doesnt start acting up now.

Only one way to find out mate, but as long as you're not hearing any grinding noises in there, it should be fine. Connect a voltmeter up to your battery and fire it up, increase the revs gradually, and if the meter climbs up to somewhere like 13.75 volts @ around 3000 RPM, your charging system is still ok. Wouldn't hurt to get yourself a new cover though, just to be on the safe side. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I guess it's my lucky day.. There is a guy on ebay right now parting out a nighthawk. Bidding on a cover that is nicer than mine was before the wreck, and turn signals. Still need to find a cheap headlight. The gauge cluster won't be fun to find for this bike either.
