Topic: Cb500 exhaust?

I have a 72' Cb500 and i need a new exhaust. The headers look good, but the muffler took a beating in a recent accident. I recently saw a 71' Cb750 and the owner had stock headers with muffler tips that were only about 6" long. I saw it as i was at the corner so asking him wasnt an option, but it sounded wicked and I would like to do the same to my bike. Anyone know where i could get 4 exhaust tips that are chrome and about the same length(6")? Also what is the diameter of the header pipes?

I've checked out a couple places already including JC Whitney and I can't find what he had. The slip-on mufflers were no longer than 6" and slash cut.

are you sure they were slipons? I've seen ratbike or chopper style headers on CBs before that look the way your describing. the headers crossed each other in the front and were slash cut just past the foot pegs. I'll look around the forum, I've seen pictures of them on here.
