richard hammond trying to kick start a black shadow
« on: February 01, 2010, 06:09:26 PM »
i'm here watching Top Gear and i've about fallen out of my bed, watching Richard Hammond kick start a Vincent Black Shadow. he can barely move the kick lever let alone start the thing. i actually brought a nurse running with my loud laughter. they all think i'm nuts now. along with Jeremy Clarkson shoveling coal into a steam locomotive and James May in a Jag XK120

Yes, Michael is a German that most recently drove F1 for Ferrari. He won multiple championships and is one of the best drivers of all time.
He retired a couple of years ago but is coming back out to drive.

That episode was pretty great.  I was disappointed at the Vincent's poor showing, but that Jaguar was one sweeeeeet car.

Seeing Jeremy painted with coal dust sure was entertaining, though.
One day, I will put up a signature.

That's funny! These days AJ couldn't even fit in a race car!! He is still at the track, as a car owner.

+1  I wonder how it would have faired with an experienced rider?

using the brake to downshift and the shifter for the brakes probably didnt do the gearbox any good. if i was the bikes owner i'd have cringed watching this. then again if i were the bikes owner, Hammond wouldnt have been riding it in the first place.

I'm thinking he's not in the saddle a whole bunch what with the cramps and whatnot.

And all heavy metal traces it's roots back to Led Zeppelin? That's a controversial statement  ;D

And any of us knows not to run into reserve too far on a 30+ year old untreated tank - or pay the rusty price in pissing carbs. Well, to be fair I didn't know that before I did it - thought my tank was pretty clean ::)

Some pr0n for anyone who missed it

Don't forget guys - Top Gear is an entertainment show, not a motoring show (even Clarkson admitted that at the end of the last series)

Having the bike hare off and win easily would not make good TV for the Sunday evening viewer.

Watched with a certain amount of cynicism, it's a great show.

I love it!

any idea which season this episode is on? a new one? my brother got me hooked on Top Gear, but unfortunately i don't have cable TV. i just can't justify paying $80 a month to become a couch potato. my brother tivos the show so i usually watch them when i visit. i need to ask him to keep this episode until i get over to his place.

You'll want to warm-up your favorite BitTorrent client and head over to http://www.finalgear.com/ to get your fix of  Top Gear (UK and Australia) and Fifth Gear.  It's alot of  fun to watch the current season instead of having to wait for BBC America play them.
