how did you have that exhaust set up? straight headers only?
where did you support them?

another question about the exhaust:  it looks like old style VW exhaust tips clamped on with some type of exhaust clamp, right?   Two things I want to know:  How does it sound (i.e., would it piss off the neighbors or call unwanted law enforcement attention?), and how does it run with the 4-into-4 set up?  Have you had to re-jet or anything?

I was thinking about a similar set up...  Thanks!

That is so wierd, I was thinking the same for an exhaust all on my own, cheap-n-easy. Has to be better than straight pipes.

Here is a few of the pics that i took that night. Luckily JamesB knows that i'll treat this bike with the same respect he treats his, also she will only live about a mile down the road!

yes those are vw exhaust tips it sounds real good don't have to jet the carbs. you can still get them i think their about 12 bucks and they slide right on they have baffles in them

I would like to ask some questions, but if this bike is the subject of another build thread, would you point me there?
Specifically, I'd like to know more about the front end...complete swap? From?? wheel only? from what bike? controls? etc. TIA!

the front end is a frankenstein creation i guess you could call it. the forks are from a cb650 the triple tree is a cb550 the handle bars are just drag bars the front wheel is from a cb360 the front brake lever is from a 175 enduro (honda) i did away with the tach, i  just have the speedo hooked up. the controls are from the cb350f. the seat brackets where custom made.the rear light bracket is curved to fit the contour of the seat. i did everything on the bike myself except carbs and i am slowly leaning how to do them.oh and i just let the headers hang out on their own they seem to be snug enough to where they won't move.

was the 550 tree a straight swap or did you have to adjust things at all?
are the 550 trees beefier?

it was a straight swap no mods where made it is a lot beefier the only bad thing is it sits higher in the front.i like the looks of it.

sits a little higher? as in where the bars mount up?
wonder if just using the 550 lower would add a bit more beef and keep closer to stock height

the cb650 forks i used are a little longer. which makes the front end stand up taller. and the 550 trees are wider than the 350f so they can not be used together.

ohhhh ok gotcha...
so the fork LEGS are what makes it end up taller...not the trees..
