So has anyone had a chance to see this bike in person?

Sure captures some of the old time style while still being modern. Got a nice peashooter too.
If I had the cash, I would certainly think about one of those!

what's that work out to on the Cafe, $26,000 or so.

Nice looking but at that price, 1198 Duck for me.

There is 1 dealer online in the US and the price for the SE is just under 18,000. Which is only a little more than the base 1198 and quite a bit less than the S model.
Also 2 completely different styles of bike.

it's in this months motor cyclist magazine. pretty pricey and i'd buy one in a heartbeat if i had the extra coin AND i could actually get one of the very limited numbers theyre producing. only 30 percent of the 3,000-4,000 produced will come to the states. the base model will come in at around 15,000 and the nicer one 20,000. this year only 200 will be produced according to the article on page 14. again, if i were buying a new motorcycle, it would be between a BMW twin and one of these Nortons. but that wont be happening for a good long time, if ever.

It's a great idea but they just don't look like the original Nortons.  If I were going to buy a classic British twin it would be a Triumph. 

Right now I've got a '76 CB550, '79GS550 and a '90 Zephyr 550.  That's enough bikes.

i'm thinking that getting a modern norton engine and an original featherbed frame might be cool.

        Yeah AND somebody will probably do it too! 8) As far as the look of the new Norton's, maybe after a little bit, they will produce one that looks closer overall, to the classic style. After all, when Triumph first came back out, THEY didn't look anything like the OLD STYLE. At Least these Nortons have a similar look of old. Give them some time to get their feet on the ground. I don't particularly like the rear kicked up like that either, but they look kinda like a cafed bike like we see on here, just the Nortons have a little bit more space between the wheel and the body, that's all. IF I could handle the price, I think I'd give one a shot! ;)

I think the parts I like are the tank and the look of the engine and exhaust.
Just seems a bit ironic that no company produces an exact replica so it would be hard to pick the triumph over the norton based on that reasoning But then no company will ever produce an exact replica probably.

But yeah, give norton some time. If this are able to stay afloat, we might see good things.

i had a good look at them at the bike show back in november. they are a strange mix of old and new but the quality was very good and they did look great in the flesh , by the amount of interest they where getting i dont think there will be a problem selling them.
