bottom end rebuild parts......
« on: February 02, 2010, 04:50:10 AM »
can someone help me out with a list of parts that need to be replaced in the bottom end when doing a rebuild? I need to know what bearings, seals hard parts, etc... that need to be replaced in the bottom end so i can start gathering them up for a rebuild.

The motor is a 1978 CB750F

Also, if anyone has a lead on a good set of '76 K/F or '77/'78 K cylinders and head that are available, let me know.

You really won't know until you get it apart. You can count on replacing the seals and gaskets anyway. Your crank and rod bearings need to be plasti-gauged for correct sizing.

I have complete lists posted in the CB750/CB750F/technical section for bearings, gaskets, seals, and o-rings for 75/76 750F's. It includes the part numbers. Some will apply to your bike but not all. The bearings are for the ball bearings only - not crank and rod bearing inserts.

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

justin,

did you like the pictures i sent you of my head?  i might be willing to sell you the cylinders as well.  i don't really think i need two motors, plus it would help finance the current build!

lemme know if you need me to re-send them.  more detailed pics of the cylinders will have to wait a bit, as i don't know if i have them up here on my laptop or not, but i can give you a good deal.

Check Bikebandit for exploded diagrams and part #'s for your entire bike. If it's rubber replace it.

Also check the CB750 rebuild for dummys thread on this site.

Good luck.

I may have a cylinder block if Wanna doesn't.

Like Jerry said, crack the case and go from there.

garrett, I forgot you sent me the pictures of your K head. I checked them out and i think i need to pick up something in better shape. I saw that it has one broken exhaust stud tab. i'm looking to get a head that wont cost me more to fix random parts. Thanks for the offer though.

Matt, send me a PM with the cylinder info. do you have a head as well?
