Yes, I put on the Sandcast Only seminars at the 2009 AMA Vintage Days with my guest speakers, Bob Hansen, father of the Honda SOHC and Bob Jameson, Dick Mann's tuner Daytona 200 and one of two Americans to be present when this bike was first rolled off production line. And everyone of the SOOC members were very nice and easy to work with, but NONE road any of the bikes to this event, nor do I think they EVER ride them when back at their respect home bases. It's all about "what is your serial number?"
I have never figured out the attraction of a bike that they made over 7400 of being a collectors piece. 5 Corvette Grand Sports or 7 Cobra Daytona coupes...now that's rare and collectible!
The infactuation with the CB750K0.... that had the most problems and was the most troublesome to keep tuned and running correctly... is something I have never understood. I was a mechanic when these came out and all I did was try to stop oil leaks coming from chain oil-er, resetting carb balance settings, replacing rear tires every 2000-2500 miles, and exchanging the crankcases as the chains were breaking on a regular basis.
Again, I like all the people involved with this group and will do whatever I can to support them, but I do have a problem with any group or individual that does not use their motorbike for what is was designed for....riding!
