I thought every classic bike 'barn find' in this town was snatched up a while ago.
Where the hell did you find that monster?

it was on craigslist for two weeks. it listed at $3500, and i was the first responder. i showed up and offered him $1500 after seeing the shape of the tank, rust, and unknown compression due to a blown head gasket and the fact that he had half-assed started to pull the head and lost some bolts. a couple weeks later i gave him 2K for it. the thing is, there are three types who show up to see a bike like this: the investors (and i know these guys by name) who know what they can buy and flip- these guys are sitting on a pile of old british #$%*, trying to get high dollar for basket cases... the velocette basket case recently on c'list for $3500 recently for example. second type: artsy hipster types who want a classic, but want to be able to ride away on it. third type: guys like me who know potential when they see it, and know they can do the work themselves. it's a #$%* economy... i knew if i held out i'd get it for a good price. i had to sell my BSA to fund it, but it went to a friend and shopmate and the price difference gave me enough to buy what i needed to get it on the road.

Too bad the Beezer had to go, but at least it's still in the family.

I totally understand about the first group of 'investors.' We have a couple of them in the OVM, but they mostly only get irritating at the annual swap meet when they are trying to unload crappy, garbage parts for $$$$.

it truly breaks my heart to sell it after going through the whole engine thoroughly and riding the thing every day, but it's going to a really good owner... and i get a commando out of the deal.

Its just outside of Boone, near the kate shelly bridge. I haven't spent a lot of time exploring around here, this snow needs to hurry up and go away.........

Tell me about it. This time last year I was riding the motorcycle to work. It was still 30 degrees or less at times, but at least there wasn't any snow.

Like Paulages Norton mine has low compression but is otherwise in great shape. Just picked it up last month.



got to love old Brit iron.

The fellow I bought the Triumph from got tired of writing cheques to his mechanic.
He owned no tools.

my son knows that Kate Shelley story by heart. He saw it on reading rainbow and we read him that story every night for abou six months...took him on the Boone valley historic railroad for his 3rd birthday as a result. What a great old train...when the snow melts I plan on riding one of the beasts down here to work a couple times (about 46 miles each way...)

How long is a piece of string.....  

Having had to make a few calculations of late, I have determined that the length of a piece of string is exactly twice the distance from the centre to either end! 
Hope this helps in determining how long it'll take ya Mick.

It's a good story.  I'd say the bridge that I took those photos on is probably the closest bridge to the Kate Shelley High.

A slightly distorted view of my 750F2 that I found recently. The rear disc had been painted so that as soon as the rear brake was operated it would remove the paint from only the swept area, rather than trying to paint only the unswept area.

FOR SURE! Post up your 73' 350 Four story!!... we love stories here.  I will read it with a bonding feeling of connection.... rebuilds are in the blood that runs through the hearts of all us SOHC'rs   .....I should start making SOHC greeting cards hahaha...
