is there a market for old stereo equipment like this.................

...........Pioneer SG9500 equalizer. the info on it i have is produced between 1976 and 1979, sold for 300 dollars until 1979 when it went to 345. one of only 2 parametric equalizers pioneer made during the 70's. this thing weighs 14.9 pounds according to the digital postage scale i have. i havent even had the thing hooked up since i got my really nice yamaha speakers.

amazing, i got this for 20 dollars at a state surplus sale about a year ago. it works perfectly, and theyre selling for well over 100 dollars on flea-bay in some cases.

Of course there is a market for stuff like that. Nothing these days really equates. So much is all geared toward Hi-def home theater, not knocking the paint off your walls! ;D

    Okay bucky boy! Now YOU'VE gone and done it! >:( LOff and On, you've posted on here with guitars and other things and I thought those were cool and all, but not really MY thing. ::) THEN, YOU just HAD to put  THIS on here, about Stereo Equipment! ::) You Just HAD to do THAT didn't you! :-X NOW, you've got me looking on ebay for stuff like I have! :-\ As If I didn't have enough of an addiction with the car and bike stuff! :P My equipment isn't anything really phenominal or anything, but it works for ME. Got myself an AKAI 1800 reel to reel player/recorder w/eight track player and enclosed speakers, a little Pioneer SX440 tuner/amplifier, a Garrard turntable and a pair of Marantz Speakers and that rounds out my little system. Originally I had a pair of Pioneer Speakers, but in a moment of weirdness, I traded them for a complete 2 four barrel setup for my 66' Charger, back in my AirForce days at Hamilton AFB. That is something else I wish I had back, the 2 four setup! It was complete (manifold, 2 Carter AFBs, Linkage, lines AND air cleaners and they were all factory Chrysler components. Trade that setup later on, for a VW convertible
and ended up selling THAT for nearly nothing! ::) Now THAT IS SAD!

         Well, I didn't find any Akai 1800s out there, but I did find several other Akai recorders and a couple of the 1800SD models. They aded a remote control (not wireless) and the Cross Field Heads.

        Guess I can't be too upset at you for that though, I HAD been wanting to look into that stuff, just never seemed to get to it. I suppose I owe you thanks for that! :D

no worries Bill  ;D i've had a few inquiries and even though it will likely not bring 125 dollars that i've seen some go for, i'm NOT going to take 10 dollars either.

Actually I was lookin at an old sansui very similar to one I used as a kid! Then a couple Marantz unit caught my eye.

    I've also located a few Pioneer units that I'm keeping my eye on. ::)

    Have to go now, to take care of my Dad and get him out for Lunch (I try to do that ever so often, like 2 - 3 times a week normally) and then, knowing ME, I'll be looking at turntable and speakers. ::) And Bucky's the one responsible! YOU don't work for ebay on the side DO YOU? ??? ::) Ha! Ha! Ha! ;D :D

vintage stereo, is just like vintage guitar amps... they dont make em like they used to. i know a few people that have a crazy collection a 70's equipment.... some of which i think they payed way to much money for. that eq looks to be f'n sweet, but one of those things that would probably be worth more to own than to sell... like my 71 acoustic 150 guitar amp. i could get a nice chunk of change for it, but id never find anything that is as good for what i could sell it for... imo

i'd actually sell this equalizer if i got the right offer for it. with the research i've done over the past 24 hours or so, nice ones like mine are selling for well over 100 dollars. though it might just be a kickass match with the new 1970's pioneer speakers i picked up this evening.

I was once told by a friend of mine, you can always tell how good a piece of stereo equipment is by how heavy it is. Some of that old stuff is really freaking heavy!

somewhere in boxes that i packed when i left connecticut with a panasonic 8 track my folks got for a wedding gift in 1967. it worked in december of 89 before i packed it away.

       Only thing I'm missing from the setup that I picked up on while stationed in Japan, is a "reverberator". Probably NEVER find one of THOSE in working order. I really liked the sound that added. Used to have a Motorla "Vibrasonic" in my old 58' Chevy Impala. Had decent mufflers for the 348 to make it's own music with, but I could still hear the radio well enough! ;)

well, my old old sony cdp c245 cd player gave up the ghost this evening so it's time to search craigslist for a new (to me) 5 cd changer. i got this thing back in the late 80's or early 90's and it's been used ALOT, i certainly got my moneys worth out of it. it would be kind of cool to find an Onkyo player to match the onkyo reciever i got recently. this pic was taken last night, it's the new (to me) onkyo reciever and old faithful, my sony cd changer

nice onkyo... you should start a thread on garage stereo's... here is what im running, wether you care or not ??? onkyo was a hand me down, cd changer (jvc) basically found in a dumpster, laptop another hand me down that was always crashing.... format, reload.... voila. its missing the backspace key, i never realized how much i needed it... but its nice havin it tied to my library upstairs...

well, after using it for a few days, i was sitting in the living room when i smelled something burning, there was smoke coming out of the equalizer  >:(  i'm glad i was right there when it started burning. thank goodness none of the other equipment was damaged
