forgive the greenhorn posing a question but why would a 'glass oil tank be any better/worse than a 'glass fuel tank?

also, is it fiberglass (glassfibre for our euro friends) or some other plastic material?

Polyester = Fibre de verre

In english

Fibre de verre = Fiber glass

Not simple glass or a glass to drinck.

I was thinking about turning the backbone tube into an oil tank like an early Egli. How do feel about that idea?

bad idea.

# you need an oil tank with more than 3 litres capacity.
# if the oil tank is horizontal from front to rear, the engine will suffer oil either under braking or under accelerating (as it was in the early eglis

May be it's a good idéa, but i newer saw an old frame MARTIN like this system, i don't know if you can drill the beam ?

I think it's more easy to put an additional tank.

Ask to EGLI, he know lot about EGLI and MARTIN frame.

In this pics you see a new frame that Georges MARTIN sail now he have like Egli frame a tank for oil in the beam.

Thanks for the input everybody. I'd like to know what that oil tank costs. If anybody could give me the websites or email addresses of someone who has or makes parts for the Martin I would appreciate it. I will start posting photos next week as I start doing the trial assembly. I intend to have the finished bike weigh between 350 and 375 pounds when complete. I'll show how as the build progresses.

The price is near 3000 €, without paint or chromium, but with all parts you see on the picture.

this small "hopper tank" does minimize this problem (but cannot solve the problem). it seems that this tank makes the problems in turns. why not mount an oil tank which provides oil in "all" situations. the geometrical form should be like a pyramide, but standing on top, upside down, similar to the stock one.
