Craig's friend Dave Rittenhouse built this bike at Craig's shop. This started as a 750cc six cylinder, but was bored to 900cc. It had a lightened crank, Kei'hin smoothbore carbs and was a street bike! Notice the Hossack/Fior style front end, and the triangulation in the frame. The motor looks low, but was significantly narrower than stock and had plenty of lean available. 116K jpeg file

The Benelli six may not be a champion race engine....but I sure wouldn't mind using one for a cafe bike motor....if only for the shriek at 9,000 RPM!:D

Good idea joe ! more than half of Benelli sei were sailed in USA, i saw few to sail in Ebay, but i never saw a spécial bike in your country may be you can find other fans ? in Europe only 3 or 4 lovely Benelli i know, only two mine with special frame. Good luck for a brave project.

If my 550 motor ever dies, and I can afford one...I would mind doing a 750/6 engine swap...since the motor mounts are the same...according to people here.

again...the sound at 9,000 RPM with open pipes would just be crazy!

Hello Georges, Welcome!
Nice motorbikes and picture collection!

I had started a discussion before about Benelli, Honda parts interchange. Could you read it and give us your opinion? Since you have had some of these engines apart. I have wondered if the combustion chambers are exactly the same or did Benelli try to improve it. Do you have some good pictures of the internal components. Especially: chain tensioners, valve train, pistons, clutch and transmition. Do you have a better picture of the bike in your avatar?

I'm in travel for my job all the week, but i'll search to you for answer next week, on my other computer.

They are few pics but not the better, i'll send more then i'll have a little time in gallery "morok".

But for the Sei only few parts can be change with parts Honda.

I really like the gas tank fitted to you marten 500. Can you tell me if that style is available for the Marten cb750. If so, I/d like to know the tank width,length height and see a photo of the top and bottom.I assume the 750 and 550 backbone diameter is the same. Also a price estimate would be nice

Also. after looking at your shocks for sale i founld i han a new old box of redwing 300mm shocks
and new Marozcchi 330 mm in storage But I know I'll stil need parts.

For the gas tank it's Egli1000 work, i think you can put it in your frame without problem, you can ask him the different sizes.

For the shocks the maxi size it's 300 mm you can take the size in your back arm, i think it's 300 mm, (said Georges MARTIN when i saw him few weeks ago).
