anybody install the cycle x power arc?
« on: February 03, 2010, 08:41:05 AM »
What plug wires are you using?  The kit comes with the caps, but no wires so I need to buy some.  The site says to use carbon core resistor plug wires.  Is ferrite core an acceptable substitute?

This is a place where you can get nice wires with the plug ends already on.  You cut to length and add your coil ends.

I just bought some generic carbon core wires at Autozone.

I was warned (by an old and experienced mechanic) with our bikes to stay away from carbon cables. No experience myself, just passing it on.

Wouldnt carbon core be considered a resistor wire?

you guys are all thinking about stock coils.... not power arc.... power arc is a modern coil it does fine with those special wires use what it says.... the responce time of coil depends on it...

Actually I was thinking about vibrations and carbon being brittle. Even copper wires suffer from vibrations and will loose effective diameter over time.

Ignitions like the Power Arc and Dyna 2000 cannot use copper core spark plug wires. I have used both the Dyna "Grey" wires and Taylor Spiro wires. The Taylors come in various colors and have a molded in plug cap.

nokrome-I think it says that they are the onlt spiral wound wires you can use with the power arc, if I remember correctly

Silverback-that might be the way I go. Thanks
