Not known by may, but Quasimodo had a brother that would visit him on occasion in the bell tower. Quasimodo's brother was handicapped in that he had no arms, but all his life wanted so much to be able to ring the bells like his brother, but had no way to grab the ropes. Quasimodo suggested that he kick the bells and should give it a try. After several attempts, he wasn't able to really ring them that way. So Quasi said "why don't you take a run at the bell and ring it with your head!" Not being the brightest bulb on the tree, his brother steps back a few paces, runs straight at the bell and "BONNNG"! rings the bell magnificently with his head. He gets so excited, that the stumbles back a little further, runs at the bell again. Once again, "BONNNNNG!" striking the bell with his face, sending the rich bell sounds throughout the town. "Wow", he said "that was fun! May I please do it again?"
Quasimodo saw that his brother was suffering from the impacts, and not seeing too clearly any more, but said "OK, but be careful, you almost missed it the last time". His brother reassured him that he would, and stumbling back to the furtherst point, came charging at the bell once again, stumbling about all the way, missed the bell and tumbled out the window, landing on the court below.
Suddenly, he was surrounded by crowds of people, wondering who it was that lied there.
"He looks alot like the guy in the bell tower that rings the bells" said one onlooker.
"Yeah you're right" said another, "he's a dead ringer for that guy in the tower"
Another person looked over at the body and said "You know....his face DOES ring a bell"
