My journey to restore a 77cb550 four.
« on: February 03, 2010, 03:40:56 PM »
Okay, not much to say for me. I'm a 19 year old engineering student who loves the look of these bikes, and the cheap price of them too. I bought this bike on craigslist for a killer price, and it shows. It also decided to die halfway home so I had to call in favors from my buddy with a trailer. That was fun.

I'm probably going to get it looking mostly stock, I'm not a big fan of the bobber/chopper styles and the cafe style is cool but no room for ladies on the back.

The death on the way home as best I can figure is from a ground coming loose. Over the weekend I'm hoping to get a manual or print off those diagrams and either replace all the electrics or just mend this temporarily.

welcome fellow 550 owner!

fwiw: the cafe bikes of the olden days often (usually?) didn't look like the replica-racers people today call cafe racer. the old ones often kept the two up seat for the reason you sited. i suspect they also were not that far from stock. i personally think our bikes are great and don't need to be radical to be fun.

good luck!

I agree...you can build a cafe with a 2 up seat.

Cafe, means stripped down, lightened up, putting max engine power to the ground.
