Rebuilt Ignition coming up!
« on: September 06, 2015, 11:07:08 AM »
One of my Ignitions lost a transistor: it seems I bought a batch of transistors from last January (2015) that had a couple of weaklings in them? I will be repairing it, but sending the owner a new one. If you're interested in this one, drop me a line: I will sell it for $50 to the guy who donates that much to the SOHC4 website for it (don't send it to me).
(I might even have 2 of these, won't know for sure until mid-week).

The rest of you out there: if you have one of these boxes, convert your Warranty to LIFETIME. I've had so few failures that I told my lawyer I don't wish to keep it at 5 years anymore. He grudgingly said, "OK"...

I'll take it!

Funny story, over my morning coffee this morning, I finally said to myself "I've been putting it off too long, I'll just order me a Hondaman ignition today."

Hey, Mystic: PM me your address?
I'll be working on it Tuesday night, most likely, so it will be ready later this week.
Thanks!

I've got another one that I will send to someone (in the USA) who will donate $50 to the forum. This one came to me because the owner had suffered intermittent spark: the Ignition is OK, something is awry on the bike. I sent him a new one instead, so this one will become a fundraiser for these forums. It's first-come, first-served: if you want this one, donate $50 or more to the forum and mark the "Yes, tell everyone I gave" option so it shows in public, and PM me with your address. It still has the Lifetime Warranty I give on all of them, even if you bought one a long time ago. They cost more than this in parts alone.

Not to 'cut out' our overseas members: I just can't afford the additional $40 postage it takes to get it there, sorry!

Hi, Vik!
Yep, it works well on the "A" and there's quite a few of them out there doing just that. If you can cover the postage, we can work it out. It just came to me from down under, in Tasmania.

OK, got one where the ground wire got pinched and bared, so I swapped for a new one. I have to replace the wire, but I'll send it to whomever wants it for a $50 donation to the forum: if you're outside the USA you'll have to pay for the postage, though.

UPDATE 10/18/2024:
Got the damaged wire replaced last night, running it on the tester now. It will be done tonight.
If you'd like this one, send $50 to the SOHC4 Treasury and PM me your address: if you're outside the USA we'll have to talk about postage, though.

Hello Hondaman, shot in the dark but, is this still available?

At the moment I just have new ones at $80 USD each.
I have one that needs repair (owner installed it backwards on a chopper with custom wiring, and blew it up! That's a first.), but I haven't had time the past 2 weeks to fix it yet. I'm not sure what's bad in it yet, other than a major short.

Thank you for the quick reply! Honestly I'll just take a new one at $80 dollars. Long story hopefully shorter, I've got a 12 year project bike I'm finely sorting out the final bits on. One of which is the ignition. I bought a power arc ignition back in 2013 and never installed it. Fast forward 10 years and finally getting it installed it has now left me stranded twice. Finally broke down and tested the supplied coil and sure enough it's a 3kohm coil pack. So, between that and whatever the draw of the ignition module is, the woeful charging system just can't keep up.

I just want it to function properly, so I want to get back to points and 5ohm coils. I'll be happy that your module will keep the points adjustments needed to basically none, especially given I won't be putting a ton of miles on it.

Also, I'm also in process of swapping over to a '77 valve cover as my '76 cover finally gave up the ghost and the rocker shafts have rounded out causing valve tick.

Hondaman, I'll send over my email so I can order a module from you.

OK: I have several on hand just now. :)
Yeah, that's a bit much Ignition for anything but dragracing in these bikes. The PowerArc was a monster spark, but it's not needed unless the engine has things like turbocharging, supercharging, or compression more than 11:1 ratio and 10,000+ RPM cams aboard.
