Hondaman,
How much info on the 77-78 SOHC bikes do you go into?
I didn't cover the PD carbs in this book, nor the 630 chain drive system that is found on those bikes. The cam duration on the '76-'78 bikes was delayed 5 degrees (mostly for emissions reasons), the compression ratio was raised a little with domed pistons, and the head became hemi (to clear those domes), which heats up the exhaust valves more and shortens their lives compared to the earlier engines. The rear wheel also dropped to 17" diameter, and all '76 and later bikes (if still original) have a PCV breather filter under the seat that connects to the big breather tube on top of the cam cover. First and second gears' ratios changed, and starting in 1977 the C2 gear received a new collar (all parts still interchange with the earlier bikes, in sets). The pipes changed, of course, but many do. That's really the sum of the significant differences between the early and late models, none of which (outside of the carbs) change the measurements or techniques found in the book.
In the "Engine Removal" chapter, I used a '77 "F" bike, though, to demo the engine pull. They are so similar that it makes no difference which ones are involved.
The book had already grown past 300 pages, so some things had to be trimmed back a bit or it would have been even more expensive. I got it back to 260 pages by removing most of the pictures of the later bikes: they were redundant, showing things like "this is the early bike (18 inch rear wheel)" and "this is the later ones (17 inch rear wheel)", etc., and didn't really add significant content overall.
In the end, the only technical thing missing in the book is the PD carbs.
