My trail 90 is done!
« on: February 06, 2010, 02:34:49 PM »
Well, roadworthy that is. Needs a new seat and fork boots but is alright for now. Road it around some today, man is it fun! Going to have to string it out to keep up with traffic but I think it will be a fun grocery getter. Should be road legal Monday...

I would love to see one of those flat blacked with a cafe seat and "M" bars or clubmans. Not kidding.  ;D

A good friend of mine had one of these back in the early 70's. He lived out in the country and we road it up and down the dirt road he lived on. We always joked about how we thought it looked like a girls bicycle. Before ATV's 4 wheelers this is the machine alot of the hunters used back in the woods. If I remember the CT 90 had a 8 speed gear box. You could flip a lever or switch and be in either street gears or trail gears. The trail gears were gear so low if you could stay on it it would climb up the side of a moutain. A rare machine, don't see many anymore.

I have always wanted to cafe a small bike like CB125 or the like, but a trail 90 would sure be unique...

The thought of taking a trail 90 across the country has crossed my mind. Being able to throw it in the back of a truck, ridiculously good gas mileage and being able to do a top end rebuild on the side of the road is very appealing. I dont know exactly what routes I could legally take with a top speed of 45?

It does have a switch on the bottom of the tranny to switch between hi and low gears. I have not put it into low gear yet but it climbed over a an couch in high gear so I can image it in low gear  ;D

I have a line on a trail 90 with 600 miles in west Phoenix, would you be interested?

If so I will see how serious they are about selling it

Thanks but unless its dirt dirt cheap I just don't have the room or funds right now. I was excited to have the extra space just as much as I was about having another riding bike  ;D I still need to finish my 550 before I can take on another project. (Not that its stopped me before...)

So whats the word on it? Running, parts pile?

it sounds like it might be in excellent shape.

I'll make contact about it with the owner and see if he has done anything to check its condition.  She says her day bought it in 79 and then parked it in his shed after 600 miles.

I'll find out $$ and pic's.
