...... the shocks have been sitting in some s**t kickers locker for nearly 2 weeks at USPS. They only just left the states .........

Well, good luck.  I hope you get them soon.  With Canada Customs, I find it's always the luck of the draw.  Sometimes they nail me for the oldest and least expensive thing, and sometimes they ignore newer stuff.  The shocks package came right to my apartment, with no duty.  Go figure.

..... cut out a bit up the side behind the shock. Didn't look like there was any way to just pound it inwards and miss the chain...

Yeah, I tried just beating the guard back with a body hammer.  (After removing it from the bike.) I thought I'd have to cut it too (and I probably will still have to) but lo and behold if it doesn't JUST clear.  (By about half a mm.)  I don't know how the 350 guard is shaped around the stock shocks, but on the 400F it has a very convoluted little section there, where it meshes with the shock.  Now mines somewhat more convoluted. And it's also uncomfortably close to the chain as well.

I figure the first time I remove the back wheel (which will be soon, so's I can paint the inside of the rim) I won't be able to re-install the wheel without hitting the shock.  We'll see soon enough, I suppose.....

Well my shocks arrived this morning.  Posted from Colorado on January 11th.

Obviously the camel train got diverted somewhere in the desert.

The product looks great, so I am pretty pleased today.

Woo Hoo !!

Yes, my new shocks were delivered just as I was about to go to work, so now the back end on the bike can start to take shape now. Thanks Tim they look good and your very robust packaging survived weeks on the briney.

For those looking to do any touch up on the silver painted parts Rustoleum aluminum color paint is a perfect match.  Mine needed some clean up on the top eyelet with shelf surface rust spots...... pulled the rubber insert out, cleaned them up, sanded and then painted with a foam brush .. voila'  better than new.

On the 400F the chainguard definitely interferes, and the chain comes damned close to the adjuster flange as well. An O-ring chain will rub on it at certain preload adjustments I think.

My experience with tim has been nothing short of professionalism!  The shocks got lost at Canada Customs, and were returned to Tim, he then Air shipped them to me and were here within a week. The shocks were excellently wrapped up, and look great! now if anyone has a spare engine, I'll be able to test ride em...

Ditto, I ordered 2 pair (four total) and only needed two.  It happened in such a way that I could have been taken and screwed for the money, but the seller actually brought it to my attention and corrected it.  Greg (ohiocafe) I didn't read all these replys, but if you are still looking for pictures, they are on 350F pictures I e mailed you.

Walked in and informed Tim I joined the 750 club. So I need a pair of shocks, and he is setting me up a set tomorrow and will pick them up on Sat. Tim is a great guy and mechanic.

He's still selling them... just bought a pair last night for my 350f. Here's the auction #, although he mentions he only has the softest springs left...

I'm a sucker for a good deal!  Already have a set on my 750, and I just bought another set for the 550.  Good, new shocks for both bikes for less than any other decent brand costs for one pair.  And you can't beat his customer service, either. :)

Like mentioned above, he only has the softer springs left. Anybody have anything to say about these. This will go on a 76 750F that I ride around in New York City, replacing the originals. Can I use these or should I be looking for something stiffer?

Same question as vames basically - For someone ~ 170 (on a good day) - are these "lighter springs" enough?

I just bought me a set of those shocks myself, this morning. I'm kinda anxious to get them.
Tim is definitely a good person to deal with. I've heard about him for about as long as I have been
a member on this site (just a few months) and it's been nothing but a pleasure to deal with him
and if the need arises, I'll be back.

I've known Tim for about the last 10 years.
Gordon,
Does he have shorter ones for the 550. I can ask tomorrow when I go in.

I just picked mine up today, there nice. I was just curious why there offset on the bottom to the inside a bit and not sitting directly under the shock? I noticed the the other shock the same way. Not sure what the other shock is just has P3114 made in USA  PC340 Looks like there are the initails in individual triangles  F M L
I thought the 750 shocks where 13 1/4 " and these measure out at 12 3/4" are all others that have bought are they 12 3/4"?

my Boge shocks are 12 1/2 in. I imagine the offset is to clear chain issues etc since the spring length is longer than stock, making these babies fatter at the bottom.

Spot on Scunny. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

while we are on the offset topic I wonder if Bodi has his shocks round the wrong way since it interfers with his chain and gaurd(page 10)
