Suprised the Swarbricks don't have any bend to them. ???  The ones I got for my 550 were.  I solved the kick stand issue by moving them inside the lower frame rail.  Removed 3/4" from 2&3 pimary, and added that piece to 1&4.  Also had to add some cuts to get them to sit higher.  There's pictures in my build thread near the beginning (link in signature).

hello, I am Valerio from Italy, I write on this site just sometimes, but I read your discussions every day.
I'm building a "race" bike (rc181) with a 500 engine.
I have to maintain the kick start, and have to face with a problem: Is the engine resistant enough? I have just 3 anchors for the engine, the 4th is free....(please see the picture)
some opinion?

Looks like a Martin style frame with two mounts at the rear, and a pair of front down tubes mounted at the front.  Shouldn't be an issue using a kick start.  Let's put it this way....if the frame flexes from kick starting, it will handle worse than a Kawa H2's rubber band frame. ;)

dario tosolini from milano and lucio valone form palermo run many years pattoni 500/4 frames which is also open loop/stressed engine without any problems, and same for any egli/martin etc.

for some reasons the bikes are called just Paton (not "moto paton" and just one t) , but the guy who built them was giuseppe pattoni.

back in the 70's he did some aftermarket frames for 500/4's, guess to sponsor his GP racing effort

this is lucio's frame, unlike the martin/egli, it's not a big tube backbone frame, more featherbed style at the top/side tubes

Yes your correct on the spelling TG, one 't' in Paton.  Although I was just reading an article in Classic Bike about the 500 GP twin bike, and on the tank it has 'moto' above the Paton.  Incredible piece of technology for the period, coming from what amounted to a one man show.  Now if I had 80K Pounds I'd love to have one the continuation bikes his son is building.  Seems Olie Linsdell made it 6 for 7 this year with one at the Classic TT.

people refer to them here as "la paton",  unlike "la moto guzzi" in which the moto is a real part of the name....

visited them a couple of times, in one ocassion roberto was working on the two stroke and showed me the one off magnesium works carbs honda gave them out of compassion for their lone & brave effort fighting against them.

There was a sidebar to the article talking about the V4 2 stroke.  Pattoni senior was definitely an innovative engine designer. 8) 8)  I envy your ability to be able to visit, an have contact with that kind of history.
