With all the current political threads I've seen no real discussion of what needs to be done.

Here is one answer. "Raising the Bar for Nullification"

Around the country, twenty-two states are currently considering a bill known as the "Firearms Freedom Act."

Here in Virginia a bill has or is being introduced to nullify the effects of a National Health Care act should it pass
and seem detrimental to Virginians.

Federal Law on weed is facing nullification in several States.

Fantastic.

States finally flexing their Constitutionally protected muscles in protection of their populations.
Maybe this is exactly what this country needs, the people who are supposed to represent us to the Federal Government finally standing up and saying "we disagree, and we legally nullify your laws."

Problem is, the FED simply denies funding to states who don't fall in line with the laws they put in place.

One perfect example is the Social Security Act, which provides funding to states in proportion to the amount of child support awards they levy each year, and also in proportion to the amount of money they collect from the payers, regardless of the established NEEDS of the children:

Why is the Federal government encouraging states to award higher child support awards by blackmailing them with funding?  Isn't it obvious that the child support should be based on what's best for the children, rather than the Federal government simply mandating higher awards?  Please bear in mind that stupidly throwing money at a wasteful parent is not necessarily the best thing for the kids, even if that parent has primary custody.

It goes further than just child support though. For example, speed limits on interstates and such. If I remember correctly, a big one was drinking and driving laws. Up till a few years ago, montana still allowed open container in a vehicle. The state was free to do that but got less federal funding for roads. If I remember correctly.

However, if states do limit fed powers and the feds try to yank the funding, it will hurt BUT we can also vote out the people that agreed to limit funding. Maybe, just maybe if enough states do this, we can start to put the feds in their place at least a little.

That's where the State has to let the rubber meet the road. So okay, keep your funding and perhaps even deny some of the
money sent into the federal government to start with.

I'm afraid Alaska is so attached to the federal money tit that the state will never let go.  I'm pretty sure that most of the state's population outside of Anchorage and Fairbanks would wither and die without the Feds money.

So Im a little confused...is this thread about nulification of laws you dont like or about secession from the United States?

If its the latter then do you really think a state can survive on its own economically speaking? Where do you see the US militarily in all this? Presumably the US militarily is there to defend the country of the USA. Not a single state. On a wider note if a single state seceeded and it spread such that there were no longer 50 states but say only 20 states how would you compete internationally? Or dont you care that you would lose your superpower status? I think its a pipe dream

What is the alternative being proposed for all the uninsured? There is a reason why they are uninsured. Not making much progress by nullifying new laws....so?
