'76 Honda 360
« on: February 10, 2010, 02:23:29 PM »
Looked at a 1976 Honda 360 today and think I can get a fair deal for it, but wanted to get some feedback. The bike does not run, but that's because it's missing the batt. and rectifier, but looks like it has been inside forever, as everything is very clean and wreck and rust free. I'm just not sure how much of a project I'm looking for right now and don't want to get into something that will be huge pain to restore. Are the 360's decent bikes? Are there aftermarket outlets for parts? I'm not a big fan of modifying a nice original bike and this one is at the point that it's clean but would probably take just as much work to chop it as restore it. any advice from the masters?

I bought a brand new 1974 CB 360 my senior year in high school. Mine was blue a pretty bike.It had a 6 speed trans compared to the CB350 witch was a 5 speed. I can't remember how many miles I put on it , but the time I had it it always ran good and never had any trouble out of it. I understand that replacement parts can be hard to find for this model plus a cam chain tensioner problem that ended up being a recall. Some people say the 360 was one of the worse bikes Honda ever made. I personally don't think Honda has every made a really bad bike. Just some that are a little better than others.

The bike looks like fun (don't they all), but it will need work so I think I'll offer her $300 and just see what she says, thanks for the opinions, any more out there?

Make sure the motor is stamped in the vin (updated cam tensioner) or you will get about 2/3 what you could if it were stamped during resell.  The carb diaphragms are pricey but there is a pretty good market for parts less some desirables (cam chain).
