First Bike Tear Down?

This is my first bike project, what is the best way to tear it down for cleaning, and rebuild?

Any tips, or personal ways of doing so, appreciated.

Not to be a smart azz but read the project threads.  You will gain quite a bit of knowledge there.

Regardless of how you go about dismantling your ride; I recommend taking a #$%*e ton of pictures. I myself have taken hundreds of photos during teardown and reassembly, and have referred back to them steadily while putting her back together. Besides, I've noticed everyone loves pictures on here. Including me.  ;D

get a box of ziplock bags and a sharpie to put bolts in and label.. and take lots of pictures

If you can get your hands one a hydrolic motorcycle lift will be great to have. You can get it all the way down to the frame and motor while on it and still move it around your work space with ease. It helped me out a lot and looking back it was a luxury to have one. Although I've seen pictures of the center stand and/or milk crates do a pretty good job of it.

Already said but document, document document - take notes - mark all your bags clearly, document AND get some of those little matching numbered stickers to mark your wiring with so you can just plug and play when you put it all back together.
