I got published
« on: February 11, 2010, 09:31:52 PM »
I edited down a bunch of travel updates I posted here, and they got published in Motorcycle Classics magazine.  God bless my 750K3, and god bless the downtrodden magazine industry, which was desperate enough to publish the rambling writings of a mediocre writer and a worse mechanic.

At this point I'd like to start entertaining offers of generous corporate sponsorship and/or yearly stipends with which to finance further sohc4 travel writing.  Liquor sponsors or aftermarket part suppliers in particular are highly encouraged to engage this exciting new marketing opportunity.

Enjoy!

-Anders

PS-  It goes without saying that you should immediately rush out and buy as many paper issues of this magazine issue, as your little arms and finances allow.  Thanks!

Nicely done, Anders.  I was wondering just the other day what had become of you since your road trip last fall.  Look forward to living vicariously through your next adventure.

You might want to find another donor of vicarious fun.  My next adventure was spending the last two and a half months quitting smoking.  Baby carrots or toothpicks, anyone?

Thanks, guys.  I'm self deprecating, but the compliments are nice.

Hey, that's great.  I will go out and look for a copy.

I had our MPLS meetup in the original draft, but it got edited out.  The world will never hear the tale of your sage wisdom and my "mystery noise".  Well, except those who read the old thread.

Great article Anders! Congrats on the publishing! As for the smoking, it gets easier over time. First year can be a #$%* >:(, but the rest can be a piece of cake 8). 6 & 1/2 year quitter here! ;)

Haha, its already paying dividends.  Like when I ride my other two-wheeled contraption, my bicycle.  But its weird, I tell you.  Apparently the only thing standing between me and 20 lbs. of beergut was 20 cigarettes a day.  Without those, I'm blowing up and out.  I average about 4 dreams a week about smoking, always waking up in a cold sweat over fcuking up my quitting.

But its worth it.  I just wish they hadn't published that pic of me smoking at the Stax museum.  It always sticks in my craw a bit.

Hey, that's a good enough adventure for me.  I only smoke 1-4 a day and can't seem to be able to give it up... picked it up after 4 years without and it's still a hard deal to break.  So, good on you.  Keep it up, you're still an inspiration.

Hey that's awesome (both the article and the quitting)!  I subscribe to MC, and while reading the article I was wondering if the writer is on the SOHC forum.   Good stuff, best of luck with the cigs.

Touring is not my cup of tea. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have wasted my time on this article. The reason I started to read it was because you are a fellow forum buddie.
Well you sure captivated me and I managed every sentence of the six pages.
