my favorite line ...  it's so true too.   the roads get smoother, the speed limits go up to 65. ... and the best part, wisconsin drivers will actually get out of your way if your going faster then they are ........ without giving you the finger  ;D  (good luck tryin to pull that off on the Kennedy Expressway)

 ;D ;D ;D
I lived in Chicago for about 18 months and LSD into downtown, zig zag over to Lower Wacker then back is an AWSOME ride (very early on a Sunday morning). One of my favorites. Don't miss that weather though.

You obviously haven't lived there in a while.  :D Very early on a Sunday now has to be like 3 or 4 am. Anything later than that and it's wall to wall.

Sad to see such a nice and culture loaded city get put on the wayside by traffic. The drive from Rockford to downtown used to be very nice if you were looking out the windows. Now it's just billboards and noise retainer walls.

Great article! Im going to have to kick Ink and Ben for not inviting me out that night.

BTW did you wear a helmet on this trip? If so what color?. I recall offering assistance to scraggly looking gent with a broke down bike around that time in the olathe ks area (15 miles south of Ink, it was like 119th & blackbob right buy chipotle) and curious if it was you. I think he was having a oil issue.

Yeah, I had a black Shoei helmet the whole trip.  That must have been my retarded scraggly twin you helped, good on ya.  I had brake trouble in Minnesota, but otherwise I figured out stuff myself.

Man, I can't find an issue of MC to save my life.  Never seen it at Borders, only once or twice at Barnes & Noble.  I like the mag, I just wish they'd come out monthly instead of bi-monthly.

I don't know if anyone could have pulled off the trip without the help of this forum. Politics aside, this forum is the reason I didn't sell my bike after a month.

I believe Shenanigans had a few ideas about road trips this summer.

The tolls ruin everything within a 2 hours of Chicago now, right you are Spikeybike.

When I started driving it was $0.30 from the Rockton Road On-Ramp (South Beloit wasn't finished) all the way to Downtown Chicago.

Now it's $1.00 at Rockton Road, another $1.00 at Elgin, and yet another $0.60 in between.

But I am extremely grateful for the 3 lanes on either side now. Best improvement yet. That and the 90-20-39-51 interchange. Sooooo much better.

No more 8 mile traffic back-ups.  :D What a joke that was. We'd ride on the shoulders lol.

Absolutely.  Been thinking about moving back.  I'd move somewhere because of a bar.

Well, the weather might have something to do with the decision too.  I'm sick of cleaning salt crud off my bike.

Guess what article I stumbled across when I was at the grocery store looking for an article on my VFR? I read it online already but I'll have to re-read since it was given the glossy treatment.

Good on ya Skonnie, and how come you didn't invite me out also to ride with you guys, Amber?  ;)

Born to run on silver machines, that's Hawkwind all right.

I never see the mag on newsstands, but whatever.  Better than nothing.

Next time I'm in KC, we'll ride.  Or hey, Mods n' Rockers is coming up here in Chicago soon.  Just saying.

Oh, I'll be there.  Never been to one.  Looks fun.

Dude, we need new a subculture that's about two wheels and a motor.  Both Mods and Rockers are about 50 years old by now.
