This is dedicated to all of you who have had faith for me,
« on: February 12, 2010, 05:03:53 PM »
Most of you know that for the past three and a half years I have gone through some major trials and tribulations. Those days are now coming to a close, at long last.

While I still have many months of fighting with the Insurance company ahead, as well as a lifetime of permanent disability to contend with, I have finally gotten to a point where I can once again move forward in life.

As of February fifth, 2010, I was officially hired by Prestige Protection as a Security Officer and tonight I start my very first assignment. After I write this I will don my brand new uniform and affix my Gold Badge to my chest, and head for the first day of my new career. No longer am I the pathetic disabled piece of discarded dung I was, now I am a gainfully employed disabled person contributing to the welfare and safety of my community.

With this new course in my life, and the whole direction it is taking, I can once again feel hope that I will be able to make my own way in life and not depend solely on the charity and consideration of others or the miserly handouts of the government to even eat day to day.

Thank you, one and all, for having faith that I will succeed one day, for that day is upon us.

I couldn't be happier for you Jeff!!!

While I don't share your opinion of where you have been (I think you are being more than a little hard on yourself!) I am excited about where you are now and even more so about where you are headed!

Now get Rita together next and celebrate!!

Jeff, Brother, I have thought of trying to contact you by pm several times and usually have been distracted and not follow through. I am sorry about that. I have been wondering off and on, how you were doing. That is Fantastic news that you have posted here and Man, I am proud of (and for) you for hanging in there! Congratulations are definitely in order and don't beat up on yourself so much. You've been through Hell (literately) and are on your way out of there. Between this News AND the fact that I found droopy and family are getting there things going well, have been such a great relief to me, that I can not tell you how much! ;)

Well, it is now 6:43 in the A.M. and I am so exhausted I almost didn't come here to post. My Captain neglected to inform me that this was a standing/walking assignment before they offered it to me. My doctor faxed over to my Captain three days ago my permanent disability situation and limitations. I am not to walk or stand for more than 10 minutes at a time, I am to have a clerical or desk position where I can sit for extended periods, or I am authorized for a patrol position where driving a set route and observing are the main focus of my employment.

All that said, I still showed the Captain how big my Cojones are by completing my 12 hour shift with nary a complaint, though by the end I was barely able to shuffle along and it took almost 30 minutes to perform a 10 minute foot patrol. Since I gave my word I would take the assignment for the three days they need it covered, I will do so and do it with a smile, just to show them just how serious I am about this job.

I am going to go now to take a bunch of tylenol and go to bed and imitate a corpse for about 8 hours. Back to work at 6P.M. tonight.

And never fear, Rita is right out front, waiting for me to get back to work on her. I talk to her daily and she knows I am back at work so she knows it is just a matter of months before the real work begins and she gets all the upgrades she has earned.

Peace and Long Rides,(thanks for reminding me of my old sign off)

Hey Dusthawk,

I began posting here only after you'd dropped off for a while, so we don't know each other, but I'm somewhat aware of your situation and glad to hear you're back to work!  That's gotta be doing good things for your mental status.

That said, don't push yourself TOO hard with this new assignment, I'd hate to see you suffer a setback from overexertion.

cheers

I got hired on as a cashier ac ouple years ago, but never got any training and they had me pushing carts in.  Some nights I'd sit in my car in tears because my feet felt like bloody stumps and I could barely walk to my car. Then they fired me because I wasn't pushing carts in fast enough.

At least talk to your supervisor and tell him why you shouldn't be standing that long at one stretch.

Well, today was a big day, finished the 4th 12 hour shift this morning, my feet feel like pumpkins, ordered most of the gear I still need, and now I'm gonna crash for a solid 12 hours. I hope I keep getting postings like this one, in just 4 days I earned over $700. At this rate I'll be caught up on bills and buying parts for Rita in no time.

More later, sleep now,

Peace and Long Rides,

Jeff
