Anyone going to bike week???
« on: February 12, 2010, 07:24:58 PM »
mods.... I know this should probably be in another section... but I am trying to get as much exposure as I can to see if we can get a group of SOHC4 members to meet up at bikeweek..... This section gets more traffic so i thought it would be the best way to get forum members together.

SO... Who all is going and who all wants to meet up, I know there is mention of some of the guys in the high performance and racing section that are going. I have seen a few others mention that they are going as well. I went to biktober fest and didnt see another SOHC4 or vintage bike the entire time i was there...

I for one would like to put some faces with names if I can while I am down there.. so how about it?

see if we can get a list of people going and maybe a place and time to meet up? anyone else besides me bringing their bike to daytona?

there seems to be alot of people that are going or want to go... but no one is talking about doing a quick forum meet or anything... I was hoping that we could get some of the people together for a quick beer or something....

not saying everytone has to have their bike to meet up, but if we can get a meet at a common event or something.

Just throwing it out there... If no one wants to meet up, I will just enjoy riding my CB750 around through all the harley guys....

Be happy to meet up.  Infield location or outside at a restraunt for beer/lunch?? Not sure yet If I will be going both days or just one of the two. I would like to see the motorcycle show at the Ocean Center! Also, for anyone that doesn't know, the gentleman(Will Stoner) that puts on the big vintage auction and swapmeet will be in Deland again this year.
Unfortunately, I won't have a bike this year, either.

Is anyone who is definately attending going to be renting a large house that I could chip in for and have a place to crash?  I'm afraid that housing availability will be the make or break for my attendance. If so, please feel free to PM me. Thanks!!!  RR

My bad! It's not a Will Stoner swap meet, but it is still pretty damn good.

I'll be at the Iron Horse in Ormond on Saturday, March 6th for my 3rd annual sacrifice to the gods of the burnout pit. I usually try to roll in there mid-afternoon. I hope to be spending a couple of nights at the campground down the road next to Rossmeyer's Harley dealer (no affiliation between the two that I'm aware of) weather permitting!

if, BIG if, i get the marshall micro-stack sold this week i'll be going down for a 4 day weekend. i have friends in sanford, about 45 miles south of daytona to stay with. if anyone happens to be in sanford, on 3rd street just south of the lake, is Jacks Cycle Salvage. Jack the owner is a pretty knowledgable guy and they always take the time to jaw with you when they can.

Bucky, are we talking Marshall as in guitar amps? Let me ask my friend Kevin, he is a guitar nut, also. He also has a small one man bike repair bussiness and he is good, in Sanford and also, is a friend of Jacks. Jack has been a staple here since the early seventies. He has had a shop somewhere in Sanford(diff. locations) and Apopka, ever since. Jack is also a personal family friend of mine.
Who are ya staying with and maybe we can get together and have a couple of beers.

Midnight, the bike I want to test ride is the ZX14 version of the concourse. And ofcourse anything else that seems a bit retro!!!

This will be the first year I haven't attended in about 20 years!

The weather is just too iffy this time of year!
It's supposed to be cool and rainy this bike week.

I'm holding off for another few weeks and going down the first couple weeks of April.
Hopefully the weather will be a bit warmer by then!

Hope you all, that do go down, have a great time and good clear warm weather!

I will be going down for Biketoberfest weekend  October 14 thru 17, 2010.
That is some great weather that time of year unless a Hurricne passes through!
I want to die like my grandfather did...in his sleep and not screaming like the passengers in his car!

I live in Florida so i know what you are talking about.... the weather has been up and down all this season... a remarkably cold winter as well.. parts of Florida (like daytona) got snow...... anyways... they are calling for a 40% chance of rain on Saturday but plenty of sun on Friday and Saturday....

Its just a quick trip over to daytona for me and my fiance's parents have a house in New Smyrna Beach so its perfect.... about a 5 min bike ride up A1A to daytona.

I'll be there. Starting Fri. 2/26 at the AMCA meet in Eustis
http://www.motorcyclemonster.com/events/AMCA-National-Meet-2010-02-26-Eustis-FL.html

Then at Barberville to watch flattrack racing (1/2 mile track)  Feb 28- Mar 2
http://www.stevenaceracing.com/Home/index.htm

Then probably go to the speedway to watch some vintage races Mar 1-2
http://www.ahrma.org/Calendar.htm

Then more flattrack racing outside the speedway (looks to be 1/4 mile) Mar 3-4
http://www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com/Tickets-Events/Events/2010/Daytona-200-Week/AMA-Flat-Track.aspx

Also will be in Deland for the auction Mar 3-6 (lots of vintage bikes show up)

I live about 1.5hrs away and I drive up every day.

And at no time during the week will I venture toward Main Street.

I live in Winter Park, and try to make atleast monday or tuesday racing every year, sometimes both. This year it will be Monday for sure. I will be in my silver 2001 quad cab tacoma, parked near the dogleg in the infield. There will be an add on it for a Z! Tracy body for sale with my cell #. If you see it and I am not there, call me. I will be either, near by or in the pits. Pm me and I will give you the number if you want to meet up early. I try to either eat breakfast over there or at the Cracker barrell in Sanford for heading over. I try to be at the track before 8:30- 9:00 am. It's only about a 30 - 40 minute drive for me. I will try to make it to Deland for the auction,

I gave up on Main Street along time ago!!!!!!!!!
