1977 CB400F Airbox Question.
« on: February 13, 2010, 01:13:06 PM »
I have a 1977 CB400F with an airbox that has pretty much been gutted of everything but the frame which holds the battery and the electrical components.  I eventually plan on replacing all the missing stock components since the consensus on the forum is that these bikes run better with the original set up.  Does anyone know if the airbox unit was the same for 1975 through 1977 models?  I have seen a couple on ebay but they are either for a 75 or 76.

Honda's Parts list shows identical partsnumber for F, F1 and F2.
(Partsnumbers are 17210-333-010 and 17300-333-000 respectively.)

I have seen some air boxes on ebay, but they are missing the rubber snorkel which attaches to the rear of the box.  I did however find some for the CB350F's.  They look like they share the same air filter I'm just not certain if they share anything else from the air box.  I just don't want to dump cash into something that may not work.

OK, Slams, here's your route to selfservice:

1. Identify your bike model precisely (incl area code),
2. Consult the Parts List that covers your model and find the partnumber,
3. Go to Quick Part Look Up in a site like http://www.motogrid.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/7/default.aspx (there are more sites like this)
4. Type the partnumber in Quick Part Look Up and... tatarataaa... it will produce all models that have that particular part.

Thanks Deltarider,
Just gave it a quick look and it showed me the other CB models which use the same parts.  This is definitely going to help.
