interest in reproduction/clear/smoked marker tail light lenses
« on: February 09, 2010, 04:18:40 PM »
thinking about trying to produce reproduction turn signal lenses and possibly tail light lenses (the tail lights would be harder to produce because of the clear window on the bottom). im pretty sure i can get the color close to original. may take a little trial and error. I will also be able to make clear lenses for anyone interested in those.Initial availability would be for the 750 as those are the lenses i currently have access to. I would assume that the lenses would fit other models and i would expand my line to other models eventually. Target cost would be about $8.50 US for the turn signals ad offer a discount for sets of four, have not really thought about the brake lights as they will be more complicated to make. Im curious if there would be a interest in these here. open to any thoughts as well.

I got my clear turn signal lenses from bikebandit.  Do not know if they have anymore.

What I would like is a clear lucas style brake light lens.  I cannot find one of those.  With one of those, I will be complete.

The Momma's ride link in sig for what I mean.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Ya, Yamiya is the only place I know that sells the clear ones and there super $$$ and they don't sell just the lenses anymore. Have to buy the whole housing . And there also in Japan. I would be interested in clear or smoked lenses.

As for normal amber lenses tons of places sell em aftermarket for cheap and they look the same as OEM. OEM new and used ones can be bought for cheap too. so I don't think there would a big market for them.

new oem lenses are 16 bucks us. used ones are cheaper than that but how many of you have perfect looking lenses.ill focus on the smoked and clear. they would be cheaper to produce therefore cheaper, might be able to get it in the 5 buck range, looking into it the stock 750 taillight would be a pain to make the stock color, but a clear or smoked one would be fairly easy. ill focus on getting a test set made, turnsignals first, i need to find a taillight, mine has a big cigarette burn in it from the po

yeah prolly. ill prolly have some prototypes made in the next month or so. i cant pull a lot of money out of my rebuild fund, stuff for molds and resin will cost me about 100 bucks, and get a good condition tail lens havent looked into that. ill most likely include amber bulbs with the lights as well so they are the correct color.
